As sad as this is being one day early, it's really not that bad of an idea to be fair. Changing socket or Intel to AMD - no problem, more ram slots or PCI slots - no problem, more USBs or better Audio chipsets - no problem.

Only downside is you'd be locked to an ATX form factor with the base board, still, nice concept even if it's a joke.

I often wonder if stunts like this are to gauge the audience reaction to see if it's a viable left wing idea...

joke would be on MSI if someone like Gigabyte, EVGA or Asus jump on the idea and make it a thing

I think this concept is brilliant. I am tired of replacing a perfectly usable motherboard, just because I want to use the latest CPU or RAM...

I wish there was a meeting to change ATX standards rather than this option. I'm no electric engineer but isnt there a better way to improve those standard connections such as the 24 PIN ATX power plug, 8 pin EPS plug and the god awful USB 3.0 internal header (and thick cable)? Doing so will improve motherboard layouts, efficiency and make them smaller.

Its a 1st april joke u stupids. Its not possible to make such motherboard, because it involves numerous software, hardware and licensing problems.

Such a nice person.......... XD

I reckon eventually we might get something like this but it's a long way off.

Considering motherboards are usually 8 circuit layers, some even 12 all sandwiched together, I seriously doubt this will ever happen! One can only imagine the types of error you'd get with those interconnects, and manufacturers settling on a standard...yeah nope.

Premature though it is, nice try!

Would never happen, but would certainly save consumer and manufacturer money. Imagine just having to RMA the memory sockets due to faults instead of the whole board.

MSI...

The sad thing is as much as CPU has slowed, they would make more money with this design. I still don't have a solid reason to upgrade my Z-77 mobo. With a board like this, it would not take much to make sounds improvements, or added IO capabilities that I would spend money on. Instead, I just sit back dropping gpu money here and there.
