yepp, nice pc btw wanted to write something on there keep forgetting. But hopefully I can persuade them on shipping me a new card.
ed--They told me that they didn't find any issues which is crap. I thought there rma was good. All I have to say is that this is going to be a long phone call

Can't they at least swap your 7870 for other refurbished 7870?
asus should play along nicely. i don't think that their testing procedure is strict enough. they should test the gpu futher

As of now all they want me to do is go through the stupid rma process again so that's another 3 weeks without a computer.

just a question and im not usure.
but can you dissable dxva in windows 7/on your gpu
the 7870 should have a few clock rates.
idle/2d dxva and load clocks.
it may just be the dxva portion of the card. but either way its a rma
hope fully they wont mess you arround with it.

EDIT: Is it possible that the pci lane was all messed up and over volting the card? I moved it to another slot but its only wired for 8x rather than 16x and was able to get through a bioshock benchmark on ultra and a occt gpu bench mark as well running for an hour or so before I manually ended it. Just wondering if that is even a possibility

Ya know, I'm not sure. Might be something to look into as a temp fix while waiting to here from them
