Missing 4 Days

Some of the forum members may have noticed that I have been missing for the last 4 days. I have been with my family at Alder Hey Hospital while my oldest son, has been having a small brain operation. This the first of two operations that he will have. The second op will be longer and because of this will be in HDU for up to 5 days. He has Arnold Chaira Type I malformation which is where a small part of the brain grows outside the skull. Hopefully this op will fix his problem. This operation will be due in a few weeks time but this may change because of the first operation and test results.

My family and I'm sure all of oc3d's members wish your son all the best, a speedy recovery and some successful results mate.

Bet there's some cool technology going on there too if your mind gets away from worrying!

Nothing worse than when one of your children has to go through an operation.

How old is your son?

Best wishes to you, your family and most importantly your son, Msm2.

Also, as what lasher said, wish a speedy recovery and good results for you all. :)

So far Joe has had 2 full MRI scans, one night sleep study and the pics show him having the ICP monitor which lasts up to 48 hrs. The next operation is in a few weeks which is the big one.

BIG UPDATE.... Alder Hey Hospital phones today, they wanted Joe into today for surgery tomorrow but we have been out most of the day as its my birthday. Two phone calls later Joe can go into hospital tomorrow morning before 8am. Joe will be alittle upset as he will not be able to eat his Cocopops first thing in the morning. So its going to be a mad night packing and sorting the house out before we leave for the hospital in morning (6am). Docs are going to explain to us what they will do before Joe has the surgery. Afterwards Joe will be in HDU for a few days before going into neuro ward. Will try to update when I can...

Please update when you can Tony, really wish him all the best. Thoughts are with Joe and the rest of the family.
