Macbook yes?

So college is like two weeks away and it's time to go shopping and I think it's time I got something from Apple computer related (iPhone owner, love it :worship:).

I was thinking the blackbook, just asking how other mac owners like their notebooks. Any suggestions, comments are welcome; and on a side note, how do I transfer all my music from my pc hd to my notebook?

Personally i love macs, i havent got a notebook but i have an imac and a G5.

For all your music just transfer like you would pc-pc. Using the network, so long as you use itunes on the PC it should all work flawlessly.

Good luck

Well I have never had a Mac myself, but my brother raves about the user friendliness of all its programmes. He's made a few web pages since he got his notebook, and its fairly impressive considering that he knows nothing about computers.

User friendliness is possibly their strongest point though, they have no viruses, and their systems are pretty stable as Apple write the software and make the parts- or so Ive been told,

However bad points, apple own everything, so they decide when new technology comes out, ie they produce the new series of technology when they feel like it, not due to competition. This strikes me that perhaps they aren't going to be in a rush to churn out the latest gear for customers, but rather improve whats available when they feel they they can no longer 'flog the dead horse' (old series) and to stop the masses just going for traditional PC.

having said that, once u get used to the Macs, they seem very speedy- just if ur after the lastest technology possible, then I dont think Macs are the way to go - or so I decided when I bought the components for my super-system.

Let me know how it goes though, Im sure if ur after decent gear then u will love them.:worship:

Macs dont need the latest technology, people dont game on them.. Plus the ones that come with the latest are used as video editing and animating rigs. Which is what they have become well known for.

The cards are infact made by nvidia and ATI and the cpus generally by intel.. I love them.. They work so much better than PC's the OS is THE best OS out there, imo.

Ide use them 24/7 if i didnt game and/or enjoy swapping out parts. lol

Yeep, ok actually what you said rings a bell about the manufacture of the CPus and mobos. Surely everyone loves the latest gear though! macs are certainly very shiny, if a bit ocdc on the minimalist designs and plain colours :P

I love tinkering with my gear and I love gaming and need to do high end video editing... Everyone seems to love them Macs though after using them..Meh.. further proof that they are trying to mind control everyone.

Regards Ollie :(

I have one more question before I make my purchase (I'm actually at college right now): can I buy an external hd, transfer all my pc files onto it and then transfer them onto my macbook or will format be an issue?

I`m not totally sure on this, as I have limited experience with Macs @ work, and more limited with @ home use (I`m on it now) - but the ones in work will read external drives that are used with pcs also. Having said that, if they`re ntfs formated they may need an ntfs-app installed in order to read them. I can`t be sure if the ones in work have it included with their `build` or whether they work like that out-of-the-box with leopard.

USB pen drives are formatted to FAT32 (generally) and Macs read them - if u wanted to, and were stuck, u could always format the external drive that way.

As I say, I`m no expert on this, but I`m about ready to 3 or 4 ex.Vista drives to my setup containing stuff and I`m confident they`ll be little problem.

if you buy one now you'll have leopard which reads from ntfs fine, but will NOT write to it,

but on the whole if you have the mac versions of the programs to open whatever files you are transfering the liklihood is it will be 100% fine :)

I just received my MacBook today and I think I've fallen in love. The OS is really so much more intuitive, easier to work with, and just plain sexier. If only Leopard had the support and applications (and if Apple wasn't so exclusive) that Windows has, there in my mind would be absolutely no competition.

I know the Unix/Linux users already know this, but I've never owned a Mac and I'm just so blown away (I am exaggerating a bit); really happy with the decision of switching. It really isn't what it used to be say two, three years ago, Apple is really catching up and the only reason not to get a Mac is the price for performance, and if you really need to tweak, build and game on your system.

Anyways, just thought I would share :)

Can u kindly share with every1 how well the box and packaging smell ?!?!? hehe

Oh and where are the pics ??

;) enjoy, u'll love it.
