Loss of Admin rights

Ok guys a laptop i sold had XP pro OS running and had too basic non admin accounts as well as an admin account. The guy i sold it too has advised me he has lost all admin privs on the laptop. He said that his "admin account" is not a restricted account the same as the other 2.

I havent managed to take a look at this yet but do you guys have any idea on how the hell he has managed to do this as i thought there had to be at least one admin account and it was not allowed to be changed.

Also if he has managed to do this., which im quite sure he hasnt. (i think he has confused himself) how would he get his admin privs back again.?

Any ideas?

You cant delete the admin account on Windows. You can only rename it or disable it.

If somehow the admin account has dissapeared, create another admin user, and stick it in the administrators group.

No he cant do that cos the admin account is now a restricted account and has no admin rights to create new users.

If he has done that, he is an 1D 10T and deserves everything he gets for fiddling.

As far as i know, if you screw up the admin account, then you will have to speak t microsoft! I take it that he has a legal copy of XP

He could try doing a system restore, but im pretty sure you need to be admin to do that...

Well thats what i thought. i told him a format is the only thing if he has done what he said. And of course its a legal copy. erm but he has lost the licence errm.

He wont let me reformat either as he has dirty pics of his mrs and wont put them on cd. Yes it has a writer. Why he dont want them on cd i dont know. Hes not my mate ok.... hes not i promise.

it is impossible to delete your own admin account or change your own account privelages without a reg hack. to change privelages you need to do it from another admin account which measn that there will always be one admin account on thr at a time. has he moved admin rights to antoher account??
