Long dark tunnel.

OK. I need advice on some of this. I have no clue about temps.

Right now I have turbo on, speedstep disabled and it spends most of its time at 3.4ghz. Temps.

GPU temps.

Which is awesome because I heard this case was crap at cooling and the top fan is broken.

It's a shame I've had so many problems with this case because it looks lovely and it cools really well.

Tom.

That ram thing is common with X58 and isn't limited to any specific board mate. The ram is there, is in triple channel but for some reason Windows steals a great chunk of it lol.

I love the red n black colour scheme of your rig man. Looks awesome! Too bad the red fans are that much more expensive. Would look even better with red fans

Good job on the cable management aswell!

I tell you what dude I'm so impressed with this Xilence fan. It really shifts a ton of air out the back whilst making hardly any noise at all.

I'm not a big fan of red lighting tbh. Always been a bit sort of, wary of it (bit evil for me). What I should do is replace the LED in the BF logo with a blue one, but right now I really CBA lol.

Couple more pics

NP. It's a common thing apparently. I spoke to a guy on Benchtec with 6gb ram and he only gets to use 3.99gb with X64. I spoke to Tom about it earlier too and it's not just limited to this board. It's deffo doing what it should as CPUZ shows triple channel, 3gb, 800mhz (1600 with the DDR) and so on.

After leaving the machine running all night the temps were not so good thismorning. I decided for the time being at least I would need to fit a Noctua in there. Cable ties to the rescue then.

noctuafittedsurv.jpg

After a lot of cussing and swearing and getting it back together I realised the logo LED had stopped working. After about an hour of removing most of the cable ties to try and track the problem I discovered the bulb had gone out

Not to mind, who said Alienwares weren't useful?

I have an entire box of colour changing RGB LEDs. I think it looks a lot better now

Yeah not overclocking it yet. Want to make sure it's all stable for at least 30 days before playing with that. Last thing I need right now are more headaches tbh.

So, the light may well be at the end of the dark tunnel now

Today I managed to shift my bike (living room feels empty and sparse

) and ordered some more gear.

Needed a internal card reader for ages now. Mine is USB1 and as old as the hills. Second up I got a decent 500gb drive for cheapies so I don't have to worry about my data drive going tits, and lastly the TIM cleaner to make sure the VRM sinks and RAM sinks stick properly.

Cooler.. I've spoken about it before.

Which costs a whopping £55 on every site apart from OCUK. I looked into the Shaman but realised it only cools better by about 3c across the board and costs nearly double. What put me off the most of course was that the only place you can get it is Scan and I'm still dead set against ordering from them. The shaman also eats up four slots opposed to the Zalman eating three (neither here nor there considering nothing else is going in) but the final nail for the Shaman was the fact it's so heavy it bows a GPU. That does worry me.

Not sure if this stuff will arrive before Christmas but I'm not in a super hurry any way, but expect the full low down on the cooler once it arrives and I have fitted it

Edit. Oh hecks to the yeah, this thing is going to be a puddle of piddle to fit !

Is the VRM and RAM block. Awesome. No stupid stick on fiddlyness !

Alien, Get the old jigsaw out and cut yourself a window
smile.gif

I might just do that mate tbh. Shame, because the early cases being shown around were meshed on both sides. Now obviously the right side would have looked terrible due to the wiring all being in there but the other side would have been awesome. Mind you, that could have possibly screwed the airflow.

Problem is now is that decent window kits are no longer available with everything you need. Heck, the good ones even used to come with a fool proof cutter.

Aurus. I can mix and blend that bulb to do about 12 colours IIRC. It's an Alienawre RGB unit so you can either display one of the three primary colours or use the - lines on either red green or blue to light up two or three colours at once to change the colours.

But yeah, looks much better. Not a fan of red lighting, bit evil for me
