Ok, i was watching TTL's excellent video of the Asus screen 2560x1440 and I completely agreed with what he was saying about eyefinity being too wide.

I was about to buy a 2560x1440 screen and the video was swaying me to getting the asus until I found this little gem today on 'cough e-buuuuuyer cough' It's not on aria yet :(

It's a 21:9 monitor just like Philips cinema scopes TV's but for pc. It's 2560*1080, so it's a kind of bridge between the two.

What do you guys think, I'm pretty torn what to get. I do a lot of graphics work and have lots of cad windows open at a time too. for £440, looks pretty sweet to me. But I also love to game

It also means that those annoying 21:9 black lines should disappear on my blu-rays?

I would love TTL to give this a look.

As always loving the OC3D Work

Many Thanks

Martin

Hmm they certainly look interesting but as with all new formats I think the trick is to wait until the dust settles, as it were. Will other manufacturer's use this ratio? Do most applications support that resolution?

My caveat would be that it's only 1080p. Why not 1200 or 1600?

OTOH I'm willing to bet that wider aspect screens that curve will become more prevalent in the future. It's certainly tidier than having 2 or 3 separate monitors.

From a gaming point of view, I wouldn't expect too much: for one thing, it has a lot of inputs (adding to lag).

Overclockers UK sometimes do a daily deal on the Hazro 30" display that puts it @ just over £500. IMO that's a better buy for your purposes (low lag, 10 bit colour, more screen real estate).

LG IPS panels are known to be pretty awesome, so I would think that the picture quality would be awesome. Gaming wise it will not be bad at all as I game on my Dell IPS without a hitch. I have not gamed in a while, but relatively fast-paced games like BF3 run with no ghosting or input lag issues. I know they're different monitors, but I'm assuming that the panels are pretty much the same. The Dell has a response time of 6ms as opposed to the LG's 5ms, which is not a significant difference at all, but it should tell you that gaming wise it will not cause any major issues.

About the lines, I think the width of the monitor would probably cause videos/images to appear in the middle with black vertical lines on either side. You will have to do more research to confirm this though.

the hazro 10bit monitors have awful lag, only the 8bit versions are good enough for gaming.

yes a normal 16:9 movie or tv with have vertical lines on each side, but as many of you will know, even on dvd's and blurays which are widescreen we still get black lines top and bottom, because they are in cinema scope 21:9, so hopefully this should fit properly. No one has done a review of it yet, so I may take the plunge after xmas.

If I do get it, I'll make sure I do a review and post it. I'm rather intrigued now.

Would love to have bf3 in cinematic ratio.

ohh, I haven't seen that hazro monitor, not the one I was thinking of. The 10bit one I saw had multiple inputs and they were saying it had over 20ms of lag or something. I think it was one of the early 27" versions of this

I will try to find the review that I found. But I can now see it only has dvi-d in, so that should mean no visual processor so should be hardly any lag. looks good to me :)

Yeah it seems the 30" model is better in that regard, but then it is over £300 more! Having said that, atm it's only £80 more than the LG 21:9. If it goes under £600 in a Daily Deal I still reckon the Hazro is the one to go for...
