I do agree on that the speed LC obtained is insane, especially on Sandy Bridge

Oh it was toasty!! Luckily those SB-E chips had a soldered IHS. The 7820x I have on the way has already been delided and redone with liquid metal, so I'm hoping to get some decent speeds!

Probably made a nice portable heater :lol: I actually forgot Sandy Bridge has soldered IHS, its been that long since I encountered it, and you should do having it already delided, you going to clean it and mount directly onto the die?

Yeah, SB and SB-E where both soldered. The chip I have on the way has already been redone with TG Conductonaut, but I'm going to see what sort of temps I get before deciding to pop it again.
For all I know this chip may not even hold a stable clock to the point that the IHS will be a limiting factor. Any signs of throttling during my testing and I'll grab a direct die frame for it

it's not like i'll be throwing away a warranty or anything!
