Kempez's Project <<| Black3d |>> **56k**

sry i forgot to post matt, thought i did the other day :/

anyway i think the window looks nice, intially i thought it was a tad small, but on second thoughts i really like the suttlety of it.

what have you put behind it? it doesnt look like clear plastic, more of a mesh?

Yeah its vertically so it should get a good view of all the UV tubes.

@Dave: Thanks mate. Behind it is some clear acrylic that I sanded with 1000Grit sandpaper. Also T-Cut down to produce a smokey effect :)

Awesome case mod you did there Kemp! I'm uber impressed, that takes some talent to get a cut that clean. Mad props bro!

Maybe I missed it, but what are you putting in the hole u cut out?

It's looking great Kempez, very nice work :yumyum: I know that Frag has already pointed it out but that is some nice clean cutting...well done on getting such a great result :)

Hey guys thanks :)

Last night I decided to cut some additional holes in the case side. This was really out of necessity rather than anything else in all honesty - the setup just wasn't getting enough air in. I was going with one hole but decided on two for effect :)

This hole will be filled with 2 x 120mm silenX fans and a grill. Please ignore the orange fan that was a test fit. Also some rubber surround is going to be added.

Caution: dodgy phone image ;)

Also managed to sleeve up a whole lot of cables too

Also decided that seeing I haven't seen hide-nor-hair of my replacement GPU water block I'm going with a CPU loop on its own for the moment. Another reason for this is due to the fact I am constantly switching out my cards for reviews etc.

EDIT: All done with a dremel

Very nice man! :) Those fan holes are soooo much cleaner than the ones in my case (though that was done in crap Raidmax window) Can't wait for final product :) :D

Thanks mate

Water loop for CPU installed. No leaks as usual and looks ok :D

More pics when I'm not on a lappy and I get another SilenX fan through along with some edging and bits :)

Quick update to say that I'm being sent one of these from dabblet off of Kustom PC's Forums (Thanks mate - legend) so I've bought another one. Going to send some others back to Kustom

Here's what the new grills look like

Lookin nice there Kemp. I really wish I had the cutting skills that you do. Everything I do just ends up looking like complete crap. Any suggestions?

Do you have a Dremel? If so use one of the thinner cutting discs and put the dremel at the full RPM.

Mark it all out with masking tape first. Then take the dremel and mark the surface of the cut for a couple of inches around the cut. Don't force the dremel in cause it cuts better at full speed. Gradually cut away into the metal until eventuall you get through. Keep repeating this processall the way around the cut and take your time. Hold the dremel fairly steady as you can get "kickback". when cutting circles use your wrist as a pivot so you get a natural circle. Turn the material not your hand then start cutting again.

Think thats about it. Best advice is take your time, don't force it and let the dremel/cutting disc do the hard work.

I have never thought about masking it out with tape before. I normally just draw it out then start cutting taking my time of course. The next time I cut a case is actually going to be tough, cutting a spot for a 120.3 radiator in the top of my Lian-Li, nice and thick. I will have to try masking it out this time.

Well had a bit of a productive evening.

Got my SilenX fan through :D

Don't like the "gunmetal". But I know you can clean it off. A bit of surgical spirit and a use found for those cotton swabs women (the missus) use to clean their face and tadaa!!

Before

After

Trimmed the fan holes too. One day I'll get the hang of it. But not right now. At least it'll be covered with a grill!

Cut the mobo tray and the side of the mobo to get some wire management going on. Twas hard work but looks ok. Trim has been changed a bit but I also have plans to cover it a bit :)

What dya think then??
