It's official: iPad 2 launching on March 2

In my opinion, apple products are good, and anyone that says otherwise either has never owned one or bought a faulty unit and never bothered to get a new one. When it comes to phones, laptops and tablets you cannot get higher quality than apple. I am sorry to say, but all of the android devices are just trying to catch up and are usually made of very sub par components. I don't care about the brand. They are good products regardless of who makes them.

Those of you who call people that buy apple idiots, are themselves idiots. There are people that buy $500 graphics cards, $1,000 CPUs, you don't think that is crazy? People can buy whatever they damn please if they worked for the money they have.

The thing you said at the end is absolutely correct,no denying there.About the earlier comment you forgot to mention that it's your opinion 'cause you too are assuming that people are assuming the products are not good.

Next you mentioned the quality, well that too is Your opinion 'cause according to my opinion i can give you better alternatives as far as qualities are concerned for all of the three products you mentioned.

Phones: Nokia, yes their OS is a bit clunky but their build quality is the best in the world and they serve the purpose of a phone(to make calls)since i don't give a rats ass about apps.

Laptops: Vaio,Dell.Again as good a quality as apple if not better unless your higher quality strictly requires the running of OSX,which again is useless for gaming.

Tablets: Don't give a crap for those either 'cause i have a phone which takes care of all my computing needs outside while fitting in my pocket and I have a PC for home computing needs, so I don't see a real and logical place for tablets in a normal humans life.IF you still want me to choose a tablet then i would go with a dell streak 'cause it fits in my pocket and I can make calls from it.

So that's MY opinion with my reasons. And just so you know I do happen to own a mac book pro and used to own an i phone 3g so I do know what I'm talking about.

Conclusion: People can buy what ever they want with their money, but they can also choose to use their brain and buy a product for it's practicality over the brand name. It's just like buying an Sclass or a 7 series or an A8 'cause you can afford them and want to show off,but in reality those cars absolutely useless and serve no purpose whatsoever in practicality.

I don't know why I replied to you, maybe it's 'cause I felt a bit sympathetic towards you for calling somebody an idiot based on your baseless assumptions.

New macbook pros are awesome: 6000 series graphics and sanybridge i7s. 1333MHz RAM (upto 8gig) and a very clever external device (and monitor) port designed by apple that provides transfer speeds up to 10Gbps...not to mention a lovely build quality and modern look. If I had the money, I'd buy one right now, no doubt about it.

Back on topic, people that say "It's Apple, therefore it's shit" are over generalizing. Apple products have their place on the market. Though I have to admit...their products are often overpriced for the hardware you're getting and even though they use aluminium for pretty much everything, it doesn't justify the £2,000 when you can get a laptop with much better parts and with better performance (and sometimes some looks too) for around half the price.

The iPad 2 is getting me excited because it's new hardware and sorry but a camera in the iPad is a great idea.

Apple products are most definitely overpriced, however there are many benefits of buying Apple products, such as build quality and to some extent the OS.

I got my hands on an iPad for a week, and I have to say I enjoyed using it a lot.

I, personally, am much more excited about the Motorola Xoom

Its apparently riddled with OS bugs, and the price is pretty steep. It is exciting though.

I honestly don't care who makes the product, I always buy what best suits my needs. I won't call people who buy Apple products idiots, nether would I call "Apple-haters" idiots. However, sometimes they are over-generalizing. People should really stop bashing the company, just because they use a PC. There are reasons to buy Apple products and there reasons not to. Just saying all their products are bad, because you don't like the company is just stupid. I myself own a Laptop from Apple and it serves my needs very well. However I wouldn't buy an Apple desktop, because I like the whole building my own rig thing.

That's just my point of view, feel free to tear it apart, if you have valid points to make. Oh and really well said hdaviator, couldn't have explained it better!

The build quality is great and so is their marketing. People will buy anything with an Apple logo on it. I however find that they charge an extortionate price for older tech generally.

They really could be putting higher spec components in for the prices they charge.

And imo Android has got the mobile market now, so much to customise and generally a lot cheaper + getting more. The modding scene is huge and Google are supporting it.

a mac at half the cost and twice the speed!

Tbh I'm not really feeling the fuzz about tablets.. a smartphone is all I need.

I agree. I feel if I'm out of the house then all I need is my phone and if I am at home then I can just use the PC. I really have no use that I can think of with a tablet cuz I have no office job, do not go to school and do not own a man purse to carry one around. It does seem though that Apple is appealing to the "latest and greatest" type people, ya know? Get out the products a fast as possible and some one is going to buy the hell out of them.

I believe in researching your needs and making a smart decision and not being brand specific. For me, a $700 tablet is out of the question.

a very clever external device (and monitor) port designed by apple that provides transfer speeds up to 10Gbps...

Its not designed by Apple (they helped) Intel developed it as Lightpeak and then decided to rename it as Thunderbolt. Apple have just adopted the tech early. Also its highly unlikely your going to get 10gbps second unless your running some very quick SSD's the tech is wasted. Implementation of USB 3.0 would have been far more useful for the majority of Consumers

Android havent yet got the whole market it have just entered it. The market is mainly apple os and blackberry and nokia in the higher end.

Apple is too overly trashed around by people but it isnt entirely unjustified. Over the top prices for stuff u can get at half the price, bugs in the os, minor flaws in hardware (iphone 4) then theres the failure to meet hypes but you on the other hand you get exceptional build quality. It really is just a matter of choice. And I disagree with xenocrophis on the subject of cars. People buy a mercedes s-class or A8 for its luxury and the power behind the wheel And for showing off (generally less) so what I mean to say is if you can afford it would you rather go for a mazda or mercedes? Like apple it gives some features that other brands dont have.

thestepster, Android OS is a fantastic mobile operating system. It's good to see it's doing better than iOS. All it really needs are more apps and, I may get flamed for this...but Windows Phone 7 is also just brill: especially when comaring with previous versions.

Apple beign a superior build quality ... please dont make me laugh ...

superrior to what medion and tesco value?

how can you compare a £600 BOTTOM of the range apple with a £200 budget accer? ofcourse its goign to be better its 3x the price...... now compeare it with a TOP of the range 2k apple and a 1k dell xps.... same specs etc is the apple really 2x the value? ...

and base units.... hmmm there all intell now... so yeah build quality? intel cpu and foxconn? or intel cpu and asus / msi etc and 1/2 the price? hmmmm tough choice?

look back a generation though before that...a few weeks ago they were charging the same price.... for a core 2 duo

i know 2 people who bought those core 2 duo ones

well since its apple hopefully their customer support will give them an exchange

point is a core 2 duo for 1100? in 2010?

3 of the 5 people I know (who have MacBooks, I'm not THAT lonely

) got theirs after they got a grant from the government for learning disability.

In terms of what you get for your money when you go for Apple, its really a grey area. Its always going to come down to personal preference (aesthetics, the OS, etc.).

What I do think though is that Android has missed the chance to get their new OS out and fully established before the iPad 2. The Motorola Xoom is not only very expensive, the OS is full of bugs, and looks rushed. Although these will of course be fixed, had the new Android OS come out a few weeks earlier, they could have got a fair bit of market share.
