Hi

Ive got a spare pc that started to crash on games freeze up and the pc had to be restarted but it got more frequent recently and now i got a job to get the pc to boot at all takes 10 mins on windows logo and ages to log on.

and if i have a program open that uses the HDD a lot ie the light blinks alot the pc freezes.

I would really like to know if this is the HDD.

The maker of your drive will usually have a free health checking app on their site you can run.

However, if a drive is failing then SMART will inform Windows and you usually get a warning to back up your stuff as the drive is close to FUBAR.

I cant even log in now just continuously says welcome and nothing happens been like it for 3 hours now i think its the HDD i will try another HDD in it 2morrow to see

if ya didnt live so bloody far away I could send ya a spare I have laying around lol but buy the time it got there ur current one might boot up

Ive got a 320 sata segate drive and 2 320's collecting dust

lol i got a ssd arriving today so im gonna take a HDD out my desktop and put into the spare pc and see if it boots.

If it is not the HDD what else would cause this?

/pees in the wind..

To be honest it sounds like a ram issue to me. Could be pretty much anything though, that's the problem with computers now.. Mind you, what am I saying? that's always been the problem with computers

Ed. Have you tried reinstalling Windows? It could simply be that Windows has taken a crap on you. Even though 7 is pretty darn good it still ends up with a messy registry and so on unless you clean and maintain it.

Run a memory test first mate, before you spend a red cent. Boot from the Windows cd/dvd and have a poke on Google. There's a way to test your memory aboard the boot media. There are also other diagnostics on the DVD too.

Try that first, assuming you are running 7 of course. (OK checked your rig specs and you are
