I used to be very much in favour of WD drives, but in the last year I've had a 320gb Caviar Blue 2.5" drive die without warning, half way through my girlfriend's Masters dissertation (thank God for daily backups), and recently a 2TB Red failed. The Blue was out of warranty but the red was still in warranty, and to their credit WD replaced it with a 3TB Red that has so far been perfect. But my confidence in them has been shaken, and my next drives will be HGST.
