Is it just me or does Windows 7 pwn?!??!?

I thought windows 7 used the same kernal as vista sp1 (the server 2008 one)

am i wrong?

Windows 7 just looks like another service pack to me - it better be available cheap/free to existing vista users considering its not that different

30 tips on windows 7 :)

I've got my quick launch and the new windows live is back in the icon bar at the right :) just how i like it :D

Same here, although I'm still looking for a way to remove that single button on the right hand side which is show desktop because I've already got the quicklaunch back :D

Plus that arrow divider....

Once those two are gone I'd be real happy with Win7 as my main OS :p

I installed it yesterday and I must say that I'm glad I did. When it becomes commercially available it'll be replacing Vista on my main rig.

Same, i'll definitely be getting within 3 months of it being released.

Ah, you guys are slowly turning it back into Vista! lol :p Howcome you guys prefer having the quicklaunch? The redesigned Taskbar acts as a quicklaunch, you can add any shortcut you want to it.

Anyways, I've posted up a gallery of the leaked 7022 build for those interested: http://www.jcxp.net/news.php?newsid=2612 :)

Down to preference really. I like sticking with the old taskbar. The new quicklaunch uses more space with the bigger icons (I've set small icons the spacing is still bigger. Show desktop all the way at the right hand side is annoying when I prefer it to be at the start menu etc) and that arrow thingy just takes up space as I don't need a fast way to edit my notifications and stuff you know :)

The old way was much faster taskbar wise, although all the pinning, setting taskbar orientation stuff is good but the other new features should always be customizeable.

well ive installed windows 7, not bad so far

damn ati havent released drivers for my x1600 tho, they only support 2000 series+ in their w7 release, and the vista drivers are digitally signed so i cant have the aero theme stuff. if anyone has any ideas how to fix that, let me know :)

other than that everything seems great, new taskbar takes some getting used to, keep opening new explorer windows because i forget i have some open, and have no idea which programs have which icons but ill get used to it.

what anti virus are you guys using?

Hmmmm, i'm a little confused.

I read somewhere that server 08 R2 will come out using the W7 kernal. The current server 08 uses vista sp1 kernal. Does that not mean W7 will use a different kernal to server08 R1 and vista sp1?

EDIT: on a side note, microsoft will no longer fork the development of 2 different kernals for server/client. From windows 7/server 08 r2 onwards, they'll use the same kernals.

Running Win7 on my desktop gaming machine my netbook (samsung nc-10) and my dell xps m1330 laptop runs great across all of them, like its been said before I think MS have got a good OS atlast. but im still a Mac OS X guy :p

Anyone got daemon tools to install yet on x64 win7? Everytime I install the damn thing it just wants to keep rebooting the machine over and over like the SPTD driver isn't installing correctly or something.

I use a Bf2 Mini image to play so that I don't have to use an actual crack or keep the damn dvd in the drive to play. Haven't played yet since I installed this windows version and starting to miss it.

Other than that little problem and getting a black screen in Call of duty 4 multiplayer even tho single player works just fine I am liking the OS.

I wonder if Alcohol or anything else would work other then daemon tools. I may give that a try if no one has an answer. Thanks for any help you can give.

I managed to get PowerISO to work;

* Run in XP SP2 Compatability (both the installer + the program before restart)

* Disable Autostart, set drives to 0 to begin with, then 1 when using app

What's ur setup/ingame settings?

I'm having a nightmare with warhead, and my xfi titanium is not working too good either !
