Is it just me or does Windows 7 pwn?!??!?

Quick question(s),

1. How do u get around not having flash for W7 64 bit ?

2. Can java be installed and if so, how ?

(Q6600, FP-IN9, 4GB RAM)

Trying above on minefield.

Browsers don't need 64 bit anyway... Ever been on a website that used 3.5GB+? Right.

Nope, but I'd sure like to have more space to open lotsa tabs :D

Right now I'm using like 300MB on firefox. Remember the saying "We'll never use more than x amount of ram/storage"

Anyway I can see this getting confusing, basically what I was saying to zak4994 is that if he's not tried Windows 7 because flash doesn't work on the x64 browser, then he should because it doesn't work on the x64 browser in Vista either ;)

Just installed it today

i like it a lot so far, still some things that are weird/need to get used to and some annoyances such as daemon tools doesnt work but yeh

nice

hope it is secretly just a service pack for vista :) would really restore faith in it

There are small quirks here and there, but mostly, my transition to 7 has been flawless. By quirks, I mean;

-Chromium/Chrome does not work :(

-Skype needs the beta version, which really isn't a very transition friendly edition.

-Older Game installation issues (compatibility mode works for most, but not all)

7 is amazing, I don't know why many are complaining why Flash doesn't work, cause I stream flash via youtube flawlessly. Although this might be because I'm using Firefox 3?

Thunderbird works fine as well, so no issues there. MSN, Garena, Punkbuster, uTorrent, VLC, Winamp, cpu-z, Everest, gpu-Z, and 3D MARK work fine. 3D MARK might show improved scores due to the more optimized OS, and games feel 'smoother' or might just be a placebo effect on my side.

A small issue with software was trying to register my powerISO copy, it would say succesfully registered, but when i boot up power ISO again, it would tell me I am running an unregistered version.

If by Flash you folks meant running Macromedia err Adobe Flash CS3 then I've no idea, I do not have the 1000 USD to shell out on that particular software ;) albeit I am inclined to think there might not be any issues.

The reason why 7 ISO might not be working for you guys might (and I am using might really loosely here) be fixed if you burn at the lowest available speed, 4x. Usually this helps reduce burn errors, however, if you are already burning it at the slowest speed them I am sorry, no idea, a bad disk maybe? For the record, I used powerISO.

Is 7 good? Yes.

Would I recommend a complete transition? Depends.

Why? Note that this is a BETA, and it is quite possible that the BETA version is devoid of all the bloatware the RC 1 might bring. For you to completely transition to 7 now, and later find out a rather sluggish (Heaven Forfend) or a disappointing 7 later, it would suck reverting all your data back to your VISTA/XP install. However, personally I am not as finicky when it comes to the OS, and I would gladly use 7.

Will everyone please WAKE UP !!!

No version of windows ever has been 'perfect' and to be completely honest, it's never going to happen. Remember when XP came out and everybody thought 'oh great, finally a decent version' followed by; 'whats this, 2 YEARS of updates ?'

Sure, this version is faster in parts but still nowhere near where it should be. It's still full of annoying UAC pop up windows and graphic intense displays. I know you can turn these features off but how about: 'if I want it, I'll turn it on'. The day Microsoft stop trying to run our lives by deciding what is right for us or how we should use our computers is the day they release a user friendly version of Windows (User friendly and Windows in the same sentence, can't be right)

And another thing, why wont it let me run Firefox, I can install it and change compatability but it won't let me run it ???

Oh yeah, and its not the 1000 USD Macromedia Flash authoring program, it's the free Adobe Flash plug in for the browser.

Hahaha. You've obviously never worked in technical support. NEVER underestimate the stupidity of people. As anyone who's read comments about people trying to mount RARs or dealt with people who willingly clicking on "download this exe attachment from an unknown sender" will attest. Stopping muppets from deleting the Windows directory or installing unknown EXEs saves a hill of trouble.

Works fine for me.

Worked at first, but now whenever i click on it, I get the wee blue circle thingy then nothing. It doesn't even appear on the process list in task manager. tried re-installing it but nothing.
