is g-sync worth the money?

Ok I've got a budget for a new monitor and was considering a g-sync one but they are very expensive so I wondered if anyone with any experience can say if it's worth the extra cash or am I better off spending it elsewhere

I'm running a pair of strix 980's so I've not come across a game yet that does not tear especially during explosions and flashing lights

i have the swift and I dont think ill ever go back to a non G sync. My only downside is that Im stuck using nvidia cards to utilise it, so spending so much on a screen and buying AMD cards is moot.

I was hoping I could get one for a bit less than the swift, I just cant justify in my mind spending more on a monitor than I did on one of my gpu's

Youll have to matey - my new IPS screens have come in at 980 money each - if you want Gsync that little module they all have to have sadly costs a mint :(

Gysnc is defiantly good, you get no screen tear, no input lag, a clear picture with no blur even when turning the camera as fast as possible. Gameplay is much smoother and 40fps feels more like 60fps on a Gsync monitor.

You don't realize just how much better it is until you have seen it for yourself. I tried playing a couple of rounds of BF4 on my non Gysnc monitor the other day and I noticed tearing that I never noticed before, the game didn't feel as smooth and the picture wasn't as clear. It is one of those things you have to try for yourself though, in my opinion Gsync is good, not sure if it is worth the price premium you pay for it, but it is good.

OK I guess I will have to swallow the fact my monitor is going to cost me if I want quality, Ive been shopping around is the Acer Predator 4k2k XB280HK 28" G-Sync Gaming Widescreen LED Monitor any good?

I know its only 60hz but it is 4k
