iphone 4S (are you disappointed?)

We don't know until we see some reviews. The dual core CPU with the addition of a larger screen will drain a lot more battery. However, if the capacity of the battery is also increased significantly, then the battery life may well be quite conservative. The point is, we can't say anything until the phone has been released and thoroughly tested

.

The screen is the same as before. everything about the phone is the same except with the dual core. And if anyone can make a device that lasts extremely long hours, Apple will be the one to do that.

I'm talking about the iPhone 5. The iPhone 4S will still drain more power than the iPhone 4 unless they have included some new features that improve efficiency or include a higher capacity battery to combat the increased power draw.

oh. I am not concerned about the iphone 5. That's another year away.

I mostly agree. I think I will stick to my 4 until the 5 comes out. See I can do that BECAUSE IT'S NOT ANDROID! If you have or had an android phone you will understand how miserable it is not to upgrade ever 10 months.

That may have been true in the beginning, but it is not the case now as proven by the Galaxy S2 and numerous other very good android devices like the HTC Desire series. Android is going from strength to strength and so is Apple, so it will be awesome to see the competition, which will as a result be beneficial to us (the consumers).

I still think the Android OS is a very unrefined OS. I know Google will get there in the future, but the phones require SO much power just to run android. Very inefficient.

There are some niggles on both sides, but they are still brilliant phones despite the problems

For me the biggest niggle on android is it's lack of ability to function properly the entire day. Android attempts to multitask but fails miserably. I can spend 5 minutes with ANY android phone and a guarantee you I can get it running slower than molasses. I have been unable to do that with the iphone.

Now that there is just your opinion and your experience with the Android phones. The same could be said about the iPhone 4... wait you can't natively multitask... however it is fixed with a simple jailbreak. My experience with Android phones has been nothing but good and I can't comment on my Apple experience because I have had very little. A lot of people have had terrible experiences on both sides and you can't generalize the problem to all of the devices as a whole. If I have a bad experience with an Apple phone I am not going to come out and say all of the phones are going to be like that.

The 4s is going to be my 1st iphone, if they bring out an iphone 5 next year, i'll just wait for the one after that, the 4s will still give me years of use, or i'll just use the 4s until the apple care on it runs out

I'm probably going to upgrade to it as I've had the 3GS for a year and a half now- it's getting rather sluggish! I can wait for the iPhone 5s when that comes out

I rather there be no multi tasking than one that does and sucks (Besides NEVER in the time i have ever used an android, have i ever needed the need to multi task). I have a galaxy SII for a work phone, and it's total trash (the OS not the phone, the phone is nice). And yea I can generalize it in all android phones because they all run the same OS just different versions and the the GSII uses the latest, the OS is what has the issue with the multi tasking not the phone. It not only over does itself but it has yet to be able to properly close apps. I have yet to clog the iphone 4 and yet with basic use I can clog my GSii pretty easily. I dont use a phone other than what a phone is meant to be used for and maybe a few games.

I am not going out of my way to just bash android, maybe it's just my luck that all 4 Android devices I have had all had the same issue. Besides Android market is puny. bunch of porn and malware.

So am I the only one pleased they kept the screen of the 4S the same size? That was my biggest worry. I hate big screen phones. I don't understand why people aren't happy with the hardware. Apple basically put an iPad 2 with a much better camera into a small iPhone sized package and added some big new features like Siri.

Your running the Beta arent you?

Yep. Release 7 of beta 5. It won't be much if at all different from the final release of 5.

@KING_OF_SAND - Fair enough, if that is what you think, that is what you think. I've had nothing but good in my experiences and as far as multi-tasking goes, the more applications you open, the more the phone will clog up. That is not a problem with the OS, it is rather a problem with the user's inability to close a program when he/she is using it. As far as closing apps goes, the whole point of multi-tasking is leaving the apps open in case you want to quickly go back to them without the waiting (even though the waiting is not very significant). I don't know what you mean by properly closing apps on the S2, because it is a very basic process where you open up the task manager and click on Exit if you want to close a single app and Exit all for multiple apps.

It is quite clear you are trying to bash Android because you have nothing good to say about it. You even go as far as saying that the Android Market is full of Malware and Porn, when that is not even remotely true. Only a small percentage of the Store will contain such content and it will be the same with any "App Store".

Anyway there is no point continuing this argument and like I said before both Apple and Android devices have their problems and in the end both companies produce very good smart phones.

They could of just called this the iphone 5 and done a slightly different design but still looks like its going to be good

Im glad aswell, i dont likr to have huge massive screens in my pocket, the iphone screen size is the sweet spot anything bigger, im not interested.

Im over the moon with the hardware specs, its like a ipad 2 for your pocket.

Uhhh, native multitasking has been available on the iPhone since iOS4....

To be totally fair though, it's not the same level of multitasking that is on Android. It's a step in the right direction for sure, but not totally true multitasking.

Sure it is, it just happens to be app-specific. The ability is there, it's up to the programmer of the app to make use of it.

Actually it's very conservative with it's battery. FAR more so than Android dual core phones.

Hmm, I get 48 hours easily, that includes a lot of phone calls, and the screen is 4.3", so it's not that bad. (samsung galaxy sii)

Onto the main subject, I thought perhaps they would call it the iPhone5, but by calling it a 4S, I suppose it's a bit of a facelift. I'd hate to see the prices though, not checked yet.

I don't mind the Galaxy's screen size, I have long fingers (my span in y10 was like 24cm, I've not been bothered to measure it since), and it fits my hand very well, plus I'm not accurate with fingers, and using Swype to text is godly.

iPhone is very refined, more than Android, but powerful phones breeze through Android, at least mine does, and there are just a few apps you can use and they really boost responsiveness/speed.
