I`ve been thinking again!! (sub-project: Sweet-Pea)

Instead of selling my case and buying another to match the standard Mach kit, I had a wee think about how to get it to fit into my existing case...the Mach is too heavy (IMO) to go into the top half of the case, and getting it in there would be a nightmare for a lot of reasons, SO....I decided it would be best at the bottom of the case, but thats where my mobo is.... I`ve already cleared the top half of my case to take a Vapochill, but now its empty so.... lets put the mobo up there!!

Building a support bracing to mount the mobo (reminded me of sweet-pea trellis, thus the name)

Where its gonna go... I`ve still to find a way of securing the wooden frame to the case, but I`ll find a way. Got a couple ideas, some more sensible than others.

You cant say I dont try! :)

On a side note, I know now that I can get 2 mobos into my case, so if I move away from phase... mini rendering farm???

:)

LOL @ Gollum!

Theres been more progress but It needs some fine-tuning. Actually...a lot of tuning. Its setup at the mo and the computer is working fine, so thats a good start.

(disturbing) Pics to follow

I`ve hit more snags with the mobo placement... unfortunately the evap hose cant comfortably get to the CPU socket in any way, so the idea will have to be put on ice for now. I was also having trouble finding a way to support the graphics card, which had nothing to hold it at 90degrees to the mobo, which was a concern. Having the free space in the Chieftec will make mounting the watercooling easier though, so its not all bad.

Looks like i`m heading for a Chieftec full-tower with a Mach box under it....

I`ll post the pics of where I got to, but will have to recreate what I`d done..the mobo etc is back in its normal place.

:(

Ah well....cant win em all.
