i need help with water cooling im new to it all

Run the performance at 7v or 5v then. 5v is inaudible, 7v is still fairly quiet. But at least they you have access to the higher RPM if you need. The quiet editions are the same fans as the performance ones just dropped in RPM, which you can quite easily regulate yourself.

Bear in mind the performance ones come with a 7v dropper anyway, so they are all quite alright to run like that.

TBH mate hang your head in shame - this is actually the type of thing that BOILS my blood. You build a waterloop so that its cool and quiet.

The difference between QE fans on low and the PE fans on MAX with the right spec'd system might be 2-4c on your CPU max temp.

Really sorry mate but your fan advise here needs a kick in the balls

im just gona stick with the quite editions

TFFT because thats what you should do - I have QE's running so slow its unreal. I have 12 running in push pull but just for looks and the loudest bit of my rig is the PSU lol

tinytom im sorry for all the threads iv opened im just building a new build doing things i aint done befor with it so im getting advice and iv got rid of my bullheaded approach

Thats what the forums are for matey - I just want you to get good advise thats all :)

As long as you are polite and take in what people tell you (when its right) thats all that matters

lol i was stubborn at first and took em a while to get me to start listing but they stayed vigilant with it and worked with me ugh some times having a stubborn approach to things is a horrid idea but ya im getting the help i did need

I realise waterloops are meant to be quiet, that's my main aim with mine, to get rid of the titan noises and certain stupid case fans, but what is wrong with telling people to run the performance fans at 5v or 7v.
The performance ones at 7v are almost identical to the quiet at 12v.
The performance at 5v is roughly the same as the quiet at 7v.

YET the quiets start to whine at 5v, some people found, not the same as air movement noise, granted, but probably like the wc pump noises on the old Hydro series - just plain annoying.

Before you start having a go, all of this was proven by someone on OCN so it's not my personal advice, more factual information passed on by someone who has actually done a crap load of tests on both fans - that's why I went for the performance instead of the quiet.

I would understand of course if you want quiets because you don't want to use the 7v droppers included with the performances - you just want plug and play/neatness or if the quiets really are significantly cheaper or even if you want to run the quiets at 7v because there are slight discrepancies between them at 7v and the perfs at 5v. Otherwise Perfs and the 7v dropper = the quiets at standard RPM. My only argument would purely be that if you ever wanted to use to fans for anything else - having the performance may well come in handy - "it's there if you need it" and so on. Aside from that, there's nothing wrong with going quiet at all.

I will of course change my opinions on it if I'm presented with evidence of the quiets performing better at the equivalent drop down voltages - by performing I don't just mean cooling, I mean noise as well.

TLDR:
Perf at 12v = loud
Perf at 7v = Quiet at 12v
Perf at 5v ~= Quiet at 7v
Quiets can whine at 5v so that's moot.

Again, don't shoot the messenger, this is based on purely factual evidence that was shown to me on OCN ;)

As long as you are polite and take in what people tell you (when its right) thats all that matters

On a side note though Tom - I've always got on with you on other forums, but I think it was a little harsh saying:

TBH mate hang your head in shame - this is actually the type of thing that BOILS my blood.

Really sorry mate but your fan advise here needs a kick in the balls

There are nicer ways to say things without jumping to conclusions and as I said - quite happy to listen to all angles and be proven wrong!

:D im happy asked asus about swapping coolers with there live chat my response
Joshua W.as for the cooler, IF it needs warranty repair, we only ask that you send it in with the stock cooler it came with,so in the mean time, yes you can use your own cooler, but if it needs serivce, send it in with the stock cooler

i think it would be good idea to get 140 case fans and 120 for the rad or would it be bad mix maxing like that

I have an AF140 QE case fan, and 10 SP120 QE radiator fans, and the beauty is they still match; yes they're different sizes but basically identical other than blade design so they still match with each other IMO, that's kind of the point of keeping the design so similar. When they're spinning you can't tell anyway.

All the fans are run on the lowest speed of my fan controller which is between 5V and 7V (I don't have a multimeter so I can't check), and I sit right next to my rig with the side of the case off, and the only thing I hear is my HDD. I can't wait to get rid of that thing -.-

Ive tested both too matey - I had 40 here to play about with and I dont think the PE's are worth the noise for a couple of degree's I really dont. You only need more airflow or rads with high FPI and they are even noisier then.

Im a quiet freak anyways matey - Im just stern with my words Im not angry

also tiny tom you was correct on the maximus vi formula rog armor the same guy told me this

okay so the armor would be considered an accessory,so yes you can paint it
IF it needs warranty service, do not send the armor

both were using asus live chat warrenty support information

well i was gona put a os my anti virus and the games i play the most on the ssd with plenty of room for all updates atm my pc broke so im on old pos laptop

I assume you are using Steam to play / buy your games for the biggest part?
If so, having games at both the SSD and the HDD will probably not work since there is only one Steam folder on a pc.
Something to figure out before you buy i think?

I'm running two SP120 performance editions on my h100 but i use a fanspeed controller for all my fans in the case (9 total).
So if i want i can make it silent but when i game with high volume (speakers or headphones) i turn it all up.

I'll leave the fan choice discussion alone tho hehe

I had 40 here to play about with

That was actually how i made first contact with OC3D Tom :)
I saw the thumbnail on that video and then i just had to watch all the vids all the way back to the very first old attic recordings.
This is the video in case you guys missed it:

Back on topic tho.
TLR it's better to spend some serious time on the forum here and watch alot of Tom's vid's instead of
"just buying the most expensive stuff" at some shop, and then figure out you spent way to much money on things.
I spent over a month finding the best bang for the buck parts for my own rig by following Tom's vid's.

So yeah just get informed and take ur time on the buy :)

i do i tend to do research on things im intrested then look at what other peoples input is and tend to be stubborn but then accepting

Yeah i could tell you ware stubborn at the beginning of this topic but then it changed to accepting indeed.
Anyways, i found these space requirements on my pc and online:

win7: 28 gb (= with all drivers and progam files)
ps2: 12,6 gb
lol: 16 gb
wot 6 gb
wow 25gb

total: 87,6 Gb for just this list, so a 128 Gb SSD would be the minimum i'd say if you put steam on the 1Tb HDD and run the rest of the games from there.

Also, you can move your "My Documents" folder to the HDD to keep the SSD clean.

ya but remember all the updates from it all

Yeah but doesn't "update" mean overwriting the current files with newer ones tho.
It's not like each game gets doubled in size when a update happens.
Sometimes it does add some extra content yeah that's normal.
Also, taking WOW as a example, seems like you have to do some manual cleaning to keep the size down.
Since wow just adds stuff but doesn't properly clean afterwards as seen here:
http://www.wowhead.com/forums&topic=171923/old-patch-files

This shouldent be the case with every game tho (i hope), unless they have contracts running with SSD / HDD brands

A 128gb SSD is fine for ur OS and a couple games.

I run one myself and have my OS + 3 games on it with 27gb of free space. (make sure to keep ~20% free space for performance) with 2 500gb HDD in Raid 0 for the rest of my stuff.

well im gona have a 2 tb hdd for storage and the 360 gig ssd is only like 60 bucks more than a 200 gig should i just grab windows 8.1 since there about to stop selling windows 7
