How not to Water cool.

some how i think hes got the idea. maybe its when you get a little older you can see what's happening here.

why do u think im not going to do a funny video taking the piss out him. hes made a mistake and im sure by now hes realised it.

basicly hes been thrown into the lions den. to teach is better to abuse well not good. I wont see this happening in this community.

Also he's likely realised how close he came to frying HIS kit...I'm sure you're right, he's learnt rather a hard lesson these past couple of days. Equally I'd not want us as a community to be seen as being bullies - that's not a nice thing at all. I'm sure all of us do daft things, I've done more than my share most likely, however his fail is he did it in a very public forum while pretending to know what he was doing

I think it's his somewhat arrogant response when initially challenged that riled people the most...maybe he's learnt a little humility now and can actually acknowledge that some people know what they're talking about. I freely admit I'm new to watercooling, I have ideas of course but am always happy to be corrected or shown a potentially better approach.

We joked around the idea of a funny video, but I doubt anyone here was actually serious about it...really, would we waste our time now he's evidently taken on board the, ahem, "constructive critism" that's been given... At the end of the day he's a young-ish chap who's made a mistake he's very unlikely to repeat. I certainly wish him no ill-will & sincerely hope he's learnt something.

At the end of the day I assume his intent was to try to help people, which unfortunately back-fired.

Cheers,

Scoob.

I do too. I think we should make a list of where he messed up and help him and help him improve. If we make a video, I think we can help more people not do what he did in the first place. I don't want the OC3D community to be seen as bullies. Once again, I'm sorry Mayhem. I wasn't talking about you when I mentioned making a list, I was talking about Spartan117FS. I think that clears that up between us, right? There's also some myths that I think we could bust. TTL and mayhem should work together on this one. Tom could help Spartan improve, and mayhem could broadcast that the whole idea that "dyes are always bad and you should never, ever use them" is BS. Your Aurora and Aurora+ test results prove that. I'm done poking fun at Spartan117FS. I don't think we should make a parody vid ( I never said that, I said the he makes fun of himself), just help him (and others) improve. Have I cleared up the situation? I hope so.

Cool, I think we all want to let this rest now.

We already have some good guides from Tom available, maybe something simple like collating the various videos that are already available would be good. So, Toms beginners videos along with some of the more detailed build ones he's done. I'm quite new to the forums so there's an awful lot of Toms stuff I've missed over the years (

) and I'm not entirely sure what's been covered so far - there's quite a lot to catch up on!

It would be a nice welcome for any viewing the forum for the first time to have a topic linking to various videos enabling us to help our selves so to speak. I think we've now seen how easy it is for less than accurate advice to get out there.

Anyway, it's getting late and I'm rambling again.

Lol @ this thread it has gone totally OTT

Seriously guys, this guy is not the only one on Youtube making vids like this there are hundreds of them. Seen as people mentioned OC3D in his comments i'm sure he has been on here and seen this thread and has already learned what mistakes he has made as well as other people telling him in his comments and I bet he is now reading up and learning how to do things properly.

We were all n00bs once and thought we knew how to do things only to find out actually we didn't, it's all part of the learning process and the only difference between us and him is he made a vid of it a put it on youtube and we didn't.

TL;DR

Watch the vid, laugh and then move on.

I know. I think we should help others not make the same mistakes he did. Is that wrong? My plan involves making a list of things you should do. It doesn't even need to mention Spartan117FS.

crap if you made a list of problems that happen and how to solve them it would be like the never ending story.

smoke some (̅_̅_̅_̅(̲̲(̅_̅_̲̅м̲̅a̲̅я̲̅i̲̅j̲̅u̲̅a̲̅n̲̅a̲̅_̅_̅_̅()~~ and chill out dudes.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly

We've had a laugh, poked some fun and quite frankly I'm a little bored with it all now. Gotta admit that his advice was exceptionally poor though, however well intended.

Cheers,

LOL. I know, but how about just the common things stuff we just saw.

OT, is our silly feud over? I think it was just a misunderstanding. That's all.

To further prove my point take this kid for example I bet he looks back on this vid and laughs at what a noob he used to be but I bet since then he has come a long way and learned a lot. As I said it's all part of the learning experiance we were all like this once whether you want to admit it or not.

Heh, very very true. However a basic "good practise" guide would be great for relative n00bs like me lol. I've been building PC for over 15 years (yup, I'm fairly old despite my child-like forum posts!) but I've only helped build a couple of water loops and not one for myself.

Personally I've viewed Toms "Beginners" videos for water loops and found them great, I've already viewed and read various build logs too - all of which have helped me understand more. I've even cheekily PM'd members here (you know who you are!) and they've been extremely helpful. So, the resouces are there to give anyone a reasonable grounding in building their first water cooled PC, just not nicely collated for lazy people like me
smile.gif

Building your first water loop can be quite daunting and the tips and tricks I've learnt here make it far less so. At the end of the day ANY member can post a question here and get a helpful response from the numerous experienced people on these forums. I know I intend to post more as my new build starts coming together - I will be posting a "here's the bits I think I need" before too long and will welcome it being commented on.

Anyway, having taken the p of this guy I think we're all more keen to see him do things RIGHT in future rather than keep ripping in to him. Whether it's our place to help or not, well, he's free to sign up here & access the resouces if he wishes.

I really am rambling now, so I apologise for that!

Cheers,

Scoob.

The little fella has some balls putting that up, unless it's his dad keeping the webcam on, and he is reading Word.

Yeah watching that one makes him seem more legit, he must have been brought up on meals of hardware.

When he says Intel doesn't take up as much space in the other vid I cracked up

So off topic, but that kid is HILARIOUS. AMD = 3 GBs? AMD is not a good piece of software? WTF. That's the worst AMD vs Intel video ever. I'm on YT now. He has a video called "why does vista suck? well is doesn't". Credibility lost.

He called me a "Windows Vista idiot." He also said that "Windows XP has less RAM inside." Does that even make sense.
