How not to Water cool.

Wow that was painful. I started laughing when he was trying to put the cpu block on...that's like aftermarket heatsink 101. Like said somewhere above, he's lucky that wasn't an exposed core like a t-bred or athlon XP. He would have crushed it for sure.

I'm thinking something like Starwars Kid but for this guy...that'll learn 'im!

Scoob.

I'd like to see mayhem make a WC tutorial and post it as a response to the idiot's vid. As far as editing, there's nothing we can do to parody him. He sounds as dumb as possible. Making fun of him is like making fun of Sarah Palin - they both do it to themselves (they always get their facts wrong...always)

MAKE HIM STOP! MAKE HIM STOP! Make him STOP!

What a hypocrite. Clamps down on one CPU block screw at a time, then complains it's getting too tight, then has the balls to say...

6:08- Keep screwing them, in one by one. Don't don't add too much pressure on a single one at a time, try tightening one by one a little bit, and then just keep going back at them, keep tightening them again.

Pink frothy muthaf'er. Dry pump
arsey.gif
. I doubt they use organic colouring in dyed watercooling fluid; the pump must gotten so hot that colouring degraded from red, to pink, and then to violet.

Juxtaposition...

10:18- Be on the look out for any leaking, I'm very confident in myself for not having any leaks in my system. So I did not add any paper towels or anything.

12:35- Make sure you do a proper leak test, where so you can spot any plausible leaks. Even if you have, even you have experience on watercooling, and you know what you're doing...

fell a sleep last night lol. But i can say ive been water cooling for erm well haha a long time now and probably longer than that guys has been alive. I am never 100% sure my systems will never leak. It happened to me the other day 2 ltrs of liquid all over my motherboard. (btw way it was cos my res cracked and i don't know why.)

some one needs to say to him nicely . look mate its all wrong please remove that vid before some one F***s up there system because of you. Also he view count is inflated and false. Hes using a program to inflate his views and his likes.

yeh the vid was a mistake. How ever im not going to parody it now as i just thought give the guy a chance to correct it. I think he got the message.

we all make mistakes and i should know i make them all the time

...

Just finished watching this and i honestly don't know how anything he makes still works (or even works in the first place)

This guy needs to get off his fat arse and do some proper research.

I bet the positive comments he gets on his videos are from him through his multiple Youtube accounts, lol. There can't be that many people who have no clue like this guy.

now Ive wc'd two rigs and I still consider myself a massive noob. how can you boot the system with no coolant!.......excuse my language here but this is ***** ridiculous he is essentially teaching people how to completely stuff up all there components and for young people like myself replacing a 700 dollar gpu is bloody hard let alone a the cpu mobo etc. He is pathetic and needs a slap in the face.... nuff said

I reckon the guy should go out and buy a lottery ticket, as luck certainly is with him...assuming the rig didn't explode after the camera was turned off.

Scoob.

i know diddly squad about W/C-ing but even i felt my mouth fall open when he put the fans in, and then a bit further when he turn it on without fully filling/bleeding the system. I mean, you wouldnt switch on your PC without the heatsink attached. truly frigtening.

Some peoples' purpose on this planet is just to be a warning to others

TTL and Linus from LinusTechTips helped me get the idea down (waiting until Christmas to do it myself). I'm glad that I didn't see his vid first. I may have thought that his way was safe and sane. I just want mayhem to correct him with a video response. Nothing insulting, just a friendly reminder that how he did it was unsafe and how he can improve his WC skills.

Yeah, as much as we're all enjoying having a go at this guy (it is fun isn't it?
wink.gif
) it's funny cos we know he's an idiot and his advice sucks. I feel sorry for anyone who has suffered damaged kit after following this guys "guide"...it's really not that funny if £1,000 worth of hardware is sitting melted in the bottom of your £200 case! Ok, I exagerate, but not as much as you might think...

I thought Natashaful gave him some friendly advice some months back which he didn't take too kindly to? So I say insulting video all the way!
wink.gif
Ok, I'm kidding, but still - the guy had fair warning he wasn't really doing a good job but thought he knew best.

Let's consider outselves lucky we didn't stumble across information like this during our first ventures into water cooling.

Cheers,

Scoob.

I think we should put together a list of WC do's and don'ts for mayhem. Spartan117FS has the "don'ts" part done for us. So let's tackle the do's. I'll start.

1) jump you PSU, use a spare PSU if you have one to start the pump.

2) paper towel everything below the tubing.

3) check your connections before turning on the pump.

That's all I got for now.

4) Listen to what Natashaful says or you'll be in a world of hurt in a few months...

5) No, really, you'd better listen!

Seriously though, we have Toms introductory guides to basic water cooling in video form, but a written do's and don'ts list would be valuable. I'm pretty new to water cooling myself and it can be easy to get a little lost with all the options available. I'm currently at the picking the parts stage, so not even ready to build yet, so guidance on how to distinguish different blocks, materials they use, what's appropriate for "X", which tube size is "best", pumps & what flow and pressure really mean etc. etc. would be most useful.

A lot of this information can be found on the forum, and many here will freely give their advice, but a central guide as shyguy94 suggests would be very helpful...I can imagine it'd get pretty huge though!

Cheers,

Scoob.

PMSL think before you type... my 9 year old & 10 year old girl's will know more about water cooling, sub zero cooling, how to make liquids, what will cause problems and how to build and pc including software related problems than you. never mind what i know.

LOL. Wait, me or the jack*** that used a PSU to run his pump and turn on his system... Scoob and ruthless gave some good input. It's not news to me, but it's still valuable for Spartan117FS. It would be a good idea to give thhat guy a crash course in how not to fail...unless he's too thick to listen. Listening to Natashaful is a really good idea. I'd listen to ANYONE with a watercooled i7 990X @ 4.6GHz. It's a 1000 dollar / quid CPU. That's too valuable to f**k up and possibly break. I would take the advice of the whole community here if that was my plan.

Edit: not what I meant. You didn't didn't need it, Mayhem, it's a list for a video response. Sorry, I mistyped. I said mayhem, when I meant a list for a video by you and the community. Will think (and proofread with context) before I type in the future...and a two coffee minimum before posting. Once again, sorry, I f**ked up.

some how i think hes got the idea. maybe its when you get a little older you can see what's happening here.

why do u think im not going to do a funny video taking the piss out him. hes made a mistake and im sure by now hes realised it.

basicly hes been thrown into the lions den. to teach is better to abuse well not good. I wont see this happening in this community.
