Although I work for them, I don't recommend them for broadband if you are a heavy uploader due to the reductions in upload speed, and the limited upload speeds due to the platform they use.
I don't have any issues with my download speed other than on Steam, and that is mainly down to the servers for Steam because everything else downloads at 120Mb with no problems.
Even when I went directly to a hubsite and got on a 1Gb link it was still only downloading at around 20Mb to 40Mb.
The customer services can be annoying with them following a set procedure if you have a fault etc, regardless of what you tell them.
The price increases are annoying and I understand the reason for them because I plan, the business installs and the equipment used on business is pretty much the same as residential for most things.
Yes they are upping the top tier to 152Mb this year and next year, but there will be faster speeds coming
The original superhub has poor wireless capabilities but it's rare that a new customer would get one of them now, however you can quite easily switch it to modem mode and use a different router with it if you wish.
The latency issues I had a while back are now fixed and they are slowly working on splitting the nodal areas, but it is costing a lot of money and taking time, and that will help to resolve quite a lot of issues that people may have in terms of, slow speeds or high latencies etc.
There are still areas that have issues however there are quite a lot that don't, and until you either speak to someone near you on Virgin or give them a try, you won't know for sure.
