Hi peeps,

Just thought I'd better say hello!

40+yr old guy who's been gaming since the days of the Sinclair ZX80/81. Only recently got back into PC's though in 2005. Used to custom build all my rigs and pimp them up, but these days I build refined, subtle rigs, where silence is an equal to importance to power and lighting is minimal and classy.

Nothing makes me more happier than to be playing something demanding at sublime fps, but not even be aware the rig is on!

It may therefore surprise to know that I only build air cooled rigs and have no intention of going over to the dark arts of water cooling. I just love the simplicity of air cooling. Though I've pretty much tried nearly all fan manufacturers over the years and only fit the best.

Anyway, always had respect for this site and love the reviews/vids by Tom & co and figured it might be cool to join in on the community.

All the best,

Dazza

Thanks guys.

I generally use Sharkoon Silent Eagles. In my Lian Li PCB71, I have them throughout. I'd rather have many fans turning slow air than a few turning allot. So in the Lian Li I've also mounted another 2 inside. My PC under full load sounds quieter than the PS3 I had. I got rather neurotic about it all for several years

I was surprisingly let down by the likes of Noctua kit. Overrated imo. I've got stacks of fans under my bed, but whatever I fit, I always end up back with the golf ball design of Sharkoon.

The other major hindrance towards a silent PC I found were PSU's. For that you cant even remain brand loyal as one model varies from the next.
