Hi all!

I've wanted to "fold" or whatever you call it for a long time, but I've not had enough computer's for the purpose until now.

The thing is I just got a Alienware (don't diss, got it used) i7 970, 6GB RAM, GTX480 system for 400$, which I now use as my main system.
The thing is I now have a spare system, which includes a i5 2400, a GTX560Ti, 8GB RAM and so on. Would my second system me alright for folding? I also have a third system which sports a i3 2120, GTX280 and 4GB of memory. So would any of these be alright for folding?

any one of those systems should be able to fold with no problems. Best way to find out how many points they will produce is to just download the program and run it for a little while. If you are not satisfied or do not like folding i general you could always just uninstall the software.

That would add some nice PPD(Point Per Day) to the Team 98860 mate

welcome and Happy Folding..!!
Greetings, Ray.......

Okay ;) that sounds awesome..

What type of internet connection is required to run this? You can see mine in my signature.

All my folding rigs are trade warehouse Dells, cheap as chips they were & they all fold very nicely

You dont need a fast internet connection for folding. The packets if information that are sent while folding are small.

Okay, I'll see what I can do ;)
But for now, I only have one computer, that is my i5 rig. Having some trouble with the SSD on my main one, and the i3 one currently doesn't have a GPU since the 280 got a aftermarket cooler that didn't fit in the case

Thanks for the tips :)

Anyhow, I'm a noob at this, but what software should I download to run the folding?

It seems like after 15 minutes, it kinda stopped on 37000 PPD. Is this a normal value? I have both the GPU and CPU set to "advanced" (on the i5 PC)

And on my i7 970 PC, I get about 52-53000 PPD.

Are these normal values?

That does seem about right. It depends on the work units as well. I'm folding on my 2600K and 580 at the moment and I'm on 37,000 PPD as well.

Thanks, I guess?

I left both of the systems on this night, but turned my i7 one off now, due to me watching a livestrem (it's like 6 in the morning here)

My points on the i7 went down to 48-47000 though, but I guess I didn't wait long enough :p

But where do you get those awesome signature things that tell you how much you have folded? Or, where could I find stats for my user?

I did put in a passkey (32 character) into all of the 4 machines I run this program on, so I guess I get bonus points?

Anyhow, what's kinda strange is I get 6500 PPD on the Core 2 Duo, HD5750 machine, but only 3-4000 PPD on the i3, gtx280 machine. They both have 4GB's of RAM. Is it anything I have set wrong or? I did put all the clients on advanced mode.

Also, thought of showing you guys where the computers are located, and what type of room they're in. Any idea of what category I should post it in?

The PPD in the i3 machine is about right for just the CPU folding. You should get more if both the CPU and GPU are folding (unless you have a random, really bad work unit)

Which client are you using?
