As some of u know, i had some problems with my dvd burner some months back, and i ended up buying a new one. I bought a Samsung TS-H552 and it rocked. The device buffer was always at max, and it only took me 8 min to burn a dvd movie in x4 speed, and never got an error. Until about a week ago. Now the device buffer is flying back and forth like crazy, and the burning process take up to 25 min now, and i use the same dvd media (verbatim), and burn at x4. I´m not running anything else while burning, and even tried 2 disable a harddisk to see if it was due to power lack, and it´s still running like crap. Have also scanned for spyware and virus, but my com is clean. The dvd burner is only 2 months old, so it should still work fine. Shouldn´t it?? Well, can any of u guys help me, ´cause i´m getting really frustrated... plz help me :( Oh, and got an error while burning 2day, that said something about a cycle redundanscheck!?

Well the CRC error that you described could have been down to a faulty disk (or possibly a batch of disks). Before pointing the finger at the drive, go out and buy yourself a small box of expensive blank dvd-r's (verbatim or something like that), and test if thats any different.

If you still get the problem, try blowing gently inside the drive (avoid spitting :D ) to clear any dust.

Sounds as if the new drive might be heading out the door already. Can't say for sure though, could also very easily be a software/driver issue.

Try using a different burning program just for shits and giggles and see if it works fine. I suggest the use of Nero 6 or 7 if that's not what you're currently using.

I AM using verbatim, and never had problems with them. I use nero 7 and dvd decrypter, and the problems the same. The device buffer runs back and forth from 5% to 99%. It just seem strange that my drive would already be going out the door when it´s a pretty expensive drive, and only 2 months old. If a dvd burner only worked 2 months at a time, then i´would have to use 500 £ a year on dvd burners lol

Just get an RMA on the drive. Components are strange things mate: sometimes ya get loads with problems: sometimes you never get any at all :)

WTF!? i just went to look at my dvd drive in application controls, and it has registrered 2 drives!? A Generic dvd-rom scsi cdrom device and my samsung TS-H552 drive... That doesn´t make any sense?? and i´m not running a virtual drive og anything!? Could that be the reason of the problem???

That does sound a bit screwed up. Delete both of the drives, restart and let windows redetect it.

Yes, it is strange. And I'm not trying to say that this is just what happens to burners. But, it's an electronic device which can go haywire at any time without notice or reason. You could have gotten a lemon.

RMA the SOB!

Well that was messed up. The two drives that windows had "found" were apparently conflicting with one another, ´cause i removed both of them and let windows find the right one again, and it worked. My drive works perfectly again.. for now hehe Never experienced that before, but i´m glad it works again :D Kempez what does RMA mean??? Oh, and btw, kick ass rig you´ve got  And tnx for ur time and help guys ;)

RMA not sure of what the letters stand for (always in my mind return under manufactorers authorisation - but spect thats wrong). Basically returning it to get a new replacement under the contract :)

And thanks man :)

Aarrrhh crap. So much for thinking that my dvd burner was running smoothly again... If i could give it a headshot i would lol :D Well, the device buffer is running wildly from one end to another once again. But now i noticed that when i burn, my cpu usage run between 70-100%, but the program itself (dvd decrypter) only use about 12% ????? I´m soooo lost now... Does it mean that it could be a system error, and maybe the device actually works fine?? Fragtek, Kempez and Xms, plz help me :( Ur the top dogs in here, so i know u can :worship:

Ps: I can´t RMA the piece of %&#" ´cause i can´t find the papers i need so i can return it. So i just gotta get it 2 work. We´re heading towards christmas, so i haven´t got 50 £ to spend on a new burner.

OMFG!!! What the hell is going on with my com  i just ran another program (dvd shrink) and i wanted to see if it would steal all my cpu usage too, and it did.. slowly but surely the amount of ram it needed would rise from 5mb to severeal hundrer RAMs., and the cpu usage would follow. So this problem just went from a burner issue, to a windows issue i guess. Any of u guys have ANY idea wtf is going on??? And please don´t say reformat, ´cause i hate doing that. Did it 2 months ago before buying the dvd burner

This explains and answers all of your questions: Bill Gates is a fag.

FYI: RMA = Return Merchandise Authorization :)

Well we all know that Bill Gates is a fag, not like it´s a national secret LOL :p But that doesn´t fix my problem, does it!? ;)

i have one thing for you guys is that ts-h552 cause it is the one i have with the writemaster logo

That was supposed to be a hint to switch to Linux ;) hehe

Problem solved :)

limqareb, i have no idea what u were trying to explain lol :D

and fragtek, I´ve heard alot about linux, mostly that it´s not very compatible with various programs and games. Sounds like u use it or have used it b4. Is it any good?? ´cause i don´t know anyone who uses it, and it would be great to get some "user info" about it ;)

and as to the firmware, no i haven´t reinstalled the firmware for the drive, but i seriously doubt that it´ll change anything :p
