GTX480 + Accelero XTREME Plus II

Hey guys, I know this product has been out for a while but I thought I share the temp decrease of my GTX480(reference) by putting on the Accelero XTREME Plus II. I haven't tested it much, but I ran HeavenDX11 and BF3 (about 30mins multiplayer) and my temps never got above 55-56c and the fan @ 50% usage. Pretty big increase since the reference cooler was extremely loud and temps were around 88c with the fans (on auto).

Like I said, not new tech but thought I would share.

Cheers

That's really impressive. I ran my 480's on Air for a few days when I first got them and I can remember how loud the coolers were and the temps on mine sometimes hit 98-100c! This Accelero must be amazing. Do you have any pictures of it installed?

I can take some pics and upload them within the next day or so

i put a waterblock on my mine, the thing just screams on air

yeah, with the reference cooler on it, the fan sounded like a hair dryer in my case sometimes up around 80%+ fan speed trying to keep it under 90c. The new heatsink/fans I don't think have gone above 55% and are quiet. The loudest thing in my case right now are the corsair fan's that it came with. My system needs a serious overhall soon (probs this summer)

Sorry for the terrible picture quality, I don't have a proper camera. Temps wise after I ran BF3 for 30 mins temps were stable between 59-60c (not as previously advertised) and fan speed never above 55%. The loudest fan in my case are the case fan's that come with the corsair case. I'm still impressed with the cooler though, its about an inch longer than the reference shroud. The heatsink is about double the size of the reference and you get individual aluminium heat fins for each RAM node and voltage regulators. Again was a bit of a pain to install because its a generic addon for a lot of cards but performs well. I plan on overclocking the card soon.

Other thoughts: If you have a spare gfx card you may want to throw it in the case. I used my GTS450 for a day while the Thermal paste set over night. Instructions say wait 5 hours to let it "cure" after I did that an aluminium fin fell off about 3 hours after I mounted it in my case. So I cleaned and re-applied some TIM (it comes with some, but I used my Arctic Silver I had laying around second time around) let it sit over night and it was good to go.

More Other thoughts: It did not come with screws long enough to mount GPU (main) heatsink. I had to run into about 3 different shops to find the right thread type and length. I looked high and low for screws in the box etc... but I am about 65% (lol) sure it just didn't come with them. I believe you are 'supposed' to use the ones on the reference card after you disassemble it but, they were a hair to short. For $60USD it's cheaper than buying a new card, I want to keep this until GK110 arrives, who knows I may cave while playing the waiting game though...

Nice temps with the Accelero cooler
