FrankenCase - Case Part swaps

i'm looking into some sheet-metal grafting, possibly. meaning, id like to use the

side panels off of the Corsair 400/500r and use them on my Cooler Master 690.

i know the dimensions are probably outta-whack and if so, i can fuze one from

the other.

question is, this is thin metal and my welding skills are not that keen so

should i get them welded or bond them together with an epoxy?

usually the epoxies leave trapped air bubbles to make it a finishing nightmare.

the exterior paint will be a satin to low-gloss white, nothing mirror-like in

finishing.

the back-side finishing will be coverage and noise damping material.

maybe a window or not, hadn't gotten to that vision, yet.

thank in advance for comments or suggestions.

Ive recently been doing some MIG welding on 1mm steel sheet and found that pretty hard to weld. The thinner you go the worse it gets and the stuff cases are made from is like tissue paper!

To be honest this sounds like a really awkward thing to do. I dont have a good suggestion for how you could do it otherwise so I wont try and give you any advice there but im pretty sure welding wont work, at best you will end up with a warped side panel, at worst one full of holes!

Sorry I dont have any better suggestions, will be interesting to see this if it you manage to do it.

i know some of our sheet metal shops can. i'll have to look into their services possibly.

yeah, these .08 cases are "thin" and my rig is too powerful on some scrap pieces i've tried.

can anyone say swiss cheese? great scott.
