So earlier this summer I had to go through a work trial thing to gain some new job references as all my past employers are either dead or moved to Australia, so I do a 2 month stretch at my local Poundland and bugger me if I didn't really enjoy it. So that was a dead cert reference as I was told.. well I had a job drop in my lap a few weeks back which is for Care Assistant at a local Nursing Home and I think hell why not I fancy a career change something I can get job satisfaction from so I apply, thinking I don't stand a chance well before I could sit down from just dropping the application off the phone rings and hey presto an Interview!.

2 days later Interview over, again moments after walking through the door I get a call saying they'd love to have me on board and could I come back and fill in all the particulars.. nailed it! CRB (DBS) Check passed with flying colours, sized up for tunic and scrubs, hours planned just have to wait for references... 3 days pass and low and behold Poundland simply say no to the reference, so I've been sat waiting patiently and feeling used by the government as free staff (slave) for an ungrateful company.

The worst part is I've got a job lined up and no recent reference, majorly p***ed at this point a lightbulb! and evil Wraith comes into play, I hit LinkedIn find all the Poundland managing directors and PR people who all receive a rather juicy email.. long story short I got my reference from a red faced manager and I start work next week, so money money money means new RIG!!

So it's late and I'm checking my emails as you do at 1:00 in the morning, to see 2 rather unnerving inboxes..

1. Plusnet Cease and Desist notice, for the illegal sharing of private materials namely one "Goosebumps" movie at 10:30 yesterday morning!?!... well guess I'm changing my wifi password and having a word with the neighbours.

2. EA - Origin change of password request, I haven't used my Origin account since about March time and I don't even have Origin installed... so I install and try to log in.. no dice! So I request a password reset.. no dice! I then call their support number, to which they tell me the account in question isn't mine. I'm mighty p***ed about now so have to go through all the security stuff, his tone soon changed when he realised my account had been hijacked.. long story short 2 step authentication is garbage with EA and clearly doesn't work, I have my account back and set up properly again and I got a free copy of Battlefield 1 for my troubles.

So how is this a FML, well I have a new game and zero time to play it as I start my new job next week.

New PC. Glad you have everything in order of importance lmao :D

Gratz on the job.

My Origin account got taken over by a Russian. I thought it was odd when all of the pictures didn't look right (the stupid picture thing you have to tag all of the shops for example) and then I got an email in Russian ffs.

Got it back eventually though. Cheeky even changed the profile pic and so on.

Likewise, they had the cheek to change all my images and language settings to Russian. They've put a fair few hours on Battlefield 4 too. This is the second time my Origin account has been hijacked from the far east, but it brings EAs security into question as I thought 2 step authentication was the most secure as I normally have to enter a code via txt message... why didn't I get one?

I guess they can disable that. I now have mine set to email and text me EVERY time some one logs in. Right PITA though dude.

BTW in future if you need a reference lmk. I will write one for you.

I got the email from EA as well about the password reset, went straight online and downloaded and installed Origin and hey presto password worked fine, now just need to change it.

Glad to hear about the job Wraith.

All this stuff with EA's security is hilarious, glad to hear you and Alien got your accounts back though, I wouldn't have expected EA to be that helpful lol

Im annoyed... I bought the Asus X370f had a bunch of problems with the board so started an RMA with Scan. Its turned into a nightmare.

First I waited days to hear from them after chasing them multiple times and then surprise surprise they claim the board has been tested and no fault found, then they claim it was physically damaged. track damaged to be be precise. I handle my boards with care and took pictured of the board before i sent it. I had heard tales of two friends sending boards back -intel ones with 'bent pins' which i know for a fact on one of them was total nonsense as i was with my friend when he packed it up and we both checked the pins! I get feedback from asus that one of the issues i had spotted on the uefi had been fixed in a bios update so i go back to scan and say that if they actually tested it they would have discovered the issue that ASUS had just been fixed. They come back to me with 'you were confused' that no fault found actually meant there was faults found with the board but i can sign a declaration that voids my warranty and they will send it back to Asus. I send them a bunch of pictures because i have no idea where they are claiming it was damaged because i didn't damage it!
They then state one picture thats blurry as hell shows conclusively in one spot that it was damaged by me. Not in any of the other spots that are blurry on the picture or the dark spots any where else. What an absolute joke.
I have paid through paypal so im going through the resolution centre now. I should have stuck to overclockers and now im out of pocket and seething.

Seriously I avoid Scan for all of these reasons. I had an issue very similar years ago and they charged me £15 in restocking fees. Never, ever again.

Stick to OCUK and Amazon dude. OCUK best customer service, Amazon will take anything back and not blame it on you.

As soon as I started looking into it I found lots of people who have had problems with scan returns. Unless you buy scansure a policy against physical damage during instalation they sell your virtually guaranteed to get problems

Yup and Scansure is a rip off.

I bought a board for my Phenom way back in the day. Some Sapphire thing. Any way, I opened the box and the fet cooler fell off ffs. I tested the board, dead. Now what I should have done was not fit the fet cooler and just back it but because I tried it they refused a full refund. It said on the box compatible with Phenom CPUs. I asked them specifically they said it would or they would update the bios. Liars.

Being autistic once some one/thing/company burns me I never go near it/them again. Not ever. That was about nine years ago now but I still wouldn't buy from them if they were the last company on earth.

OCUK's customer service (provided you know where to look, their forums) is just amazing. They've sent me loads of freebies for mistakes. For example I ordered three Bitspower fittings and one was incorrect so they sent me three more of the correct items. Sent me a clear res instead of a red one, so sent me a £8 deluxe black res cap to replace the silver one.

Yeah, just absolutely bang on tbh. Given I get free shipping on even 99p items I don't shop anywhere else now. Seriously, I must have made ten orders from OCUK where it has ended up costing them money.

You should see the messages from scan from their line manager. The woman clearly is a nasty piece of work. When someone tells you repeatedly that they are not being malicious you cant help but consider every act they do as malicious. They just lie and use their position to try and bully customers. I just found out one of my friends had a problem with one of their 3xs laptops, it cost 2.5k and has all kinds of problems. He tried to return it in the first month and Scan fobbed him off. Hes written 16 emails to them now and got trading standards involved and started writing legal letters to them.
OCuk on the other hand have been excellent with support and with every order i have ever placed with them. They are honest and dont sell stock to customers that they dont have either,
The last problem i had with scan was when i tried to buy a gtx 1080 from them. I paid for next day shipping and the item was showing as in stock. So i dropped the cash. It turns out they sell stock they dont have often and then backfill the order. After 10 days of not receiving my card i lost it and emailed them because i kept seeing stock on sale and then off sale on their site. I should have learnt my lesson then.
My wife has aspergers and is exactly the same as you AlienALX!

Yeah Scan's RMA department is exactly as you say, vicious. They clearly have the "customer is always wrong" attitude.

I can't deal with that, nor could I deal with them selling things they do not have and then making you wait about five days for a refund. I see it all of the time on another forum I visit.

Seriously Bailey at OCUK is a frikking legend. Such a nice guy and always gets the job done.

I must be a unicorn then lol.

When my H100i GTX's pump died I did the RMA through Scan (Without Scansure either) it got sent back, tested and pump confirmed failed. Didn't get a replacement straight away because the GTX got discontinued but after contacting them I got a brand new 100i v2 instead. No arguing or anything.

I've never had a problem with Scan but that's the only return I've ever had to do

That is because the company behind them are awesome (Corsair) and Scan did not stand to lose anything. They would have gone to Corsair, Corsair would have said "yup send the latest model" and they simply did their bidding.

Wait until you get to a point where Scan could possibly lose something. Then you will see how they really are.

UPDATE: Scan escalated the disagreement with myself to Paypal. I wrote a detailed doc to paypal with all the stages of the transaction and copied in every email that they had sent including all the nasty threatening and accusatory emails.

Paypal found in my favour!! They have refunded the money. Scan are claiming now that they havent received the product back despite the RMA and all the email between us.

I will never buy from that dodgy company again.

Decided to join a dating site for a giggle, POF as it's free, And see how I fair in search for the future Mrs Dice ^_^

My findings ?

Holy hell there are a hell of a lot of self entitled women in my age range.

They all want a man that's 6"2, Eyes of blue, Spartan physique, Those requirements I can fulfill as I train everyday and have flawless nutrition but there's more to come, As well as that they want someone that can apparently read minds, Has a bank account as big as Bill Gates', Drives the latest sports car, Is always dressed in the latest fashions, Won't mind if she flirts with other men, Isn't clingy or asks too many questions, Can fix plumbing, Electrics, Does gardening, Constantly buys her expensive presents and jewelry etc..... and the list goes on and on and that's just for the "average" looking women, The "hotties" are even worse.

I can now understand why there are a lot of single men in my age group.
