So my ISP contacted me today as my contract is due to be renewed, I was paying £23 per month for a basic 20Mbps line as there is nothing better/faster in my whole area due to it being somewhat in the countryside.

They said due to Brexit the price is going up to £33, I told them -

"Well isn't that a coincidence, My savings just went up to £33 a month, I won't be renewing, You and companies like you are using Brexit as an excuse to try and fleece even more money from people".

He quickly back tracked and offered me a new deal for the same price as my previous one.

It's pretty sad that you have to threaten service cancellation to get through to someone.

lol dude you've got no idea !!

My house insurance was expensive @ £23 a month. Turns out my ex had the type of insurance you need as a house owner. Any way, at the end of the year they sent me a bill for the next year. Get this, £45 a month. I phoned them and said "WTF? it is supposed to go down not up !!" and they said the best they could do was £35. Then she told me I should switch.

Wait.. So the people who could have had £23 a month or less out of me every month in the bank say that I should leave. The thing is? they are all doing it !! I had a BT deal @£43. They say if I don't switch or cancel by 18 months it goes up to £68. They never outright told me that I should switch, but JFC that is what the world has come to.

I guess they're hoping people forget or whatever or don't want to switch etc.

Jokers. I ended up getting the top insurance with Legal and General for £17 pm.

Nailed it right there mate. It's unbelievable how many people actually do forget and keep paying so they make millions on them alone.

I won't deny, I've had a decent experience with Three. Had many contracts in the past with them and they've never increased due to RPI each year, never tried to increase and blame Brexit or anything, and the one time I called asking to get my contract dropped because they're doing a Jan deal for new customers (My contract but at £9 a month instead of £13) they did it no questions asked. My mum had the same with Virgin, contract expired a year or two ago, never put the price up, and when she called asking to have the TV and Landline dropped (so just pure Broadband) they did it, no questions asked and lowered her tariff even further.

I hate utility companies with a untold passion though; dirty, greedy.... yeah. I won't finish that sentence

Sky is the worst for this. I called them asked to reduce they said no basically and that I was on the best offer they could do. I asked the woman how much it cost sky to send me freeview she said nothing, I then asked her how much sky's costs are to switch on everything on my box, she refused to answer so I told her nothing. If I leave you and use your box as a freeview receiver it costs you the exact same as if I want the full movies and sports package. anyway left them and within a week letters of cheaper offers than I was on with free tv's no setup fee's, faster broadband ect……
It seems the figure they are chasing is new customer sign ups so technically i would have been a new customer i spose. Thing is a much better number to look at should be how many of our customers have left to go somewhere else. Comparethewhatever.com is the blame for this, customer loyalty went out the window once people realised how many suppliers of there choice of whatever there was out there. Bring back the loyalty bonuses instead of seeing loyal customers as easy targets

Yeah Sky are another company who will gladly see you go. It's ridiculous.

Now Virgin on the other hand? back in 98 we (my mum, bro and me) used to chip in and pay around £35 for cable TV. Well I left for 3 months to go to the USA and my mother knew I wasn't coming back for long (she knew then it was serious and I was moving out there) so she talked to my bro and they said naff it, get rid of it.

So she phoned Virgin, who said to her "How much could you afford?" and she, for a joke, said "I dunno, a tenner?" and thus her cable was then £10 a month.

At the end of the day I guess they had laid the cable to her house so getting a tenner was better than getting nothing. She was thrilled, job done.

But every one else? don't care. When your contract ends and you "deal" expires they care not one jot about you leaving. It's absolutely crazy.

I can only think this strategy has been adopted from the USA, but it's absolutely stupid. Why would you not want to retain customers? it just makes absolutely no sense.

I find the same thing with car insurance companies. I bounce between the two cheapest ones every year as they refuse to give existing customers the new membership deal. It's nuts. I have to keep swapping and being disloyal to get the best prices. Since when was the reward for loyalty getting shafted in the wallet?

This is why I keep to myself and have a non existent social circle.

So apparently one of the guys at the gym who is a steroid user is ****ed off with me because for 1, I'm bigger and have lower body fat than he does, And 2, I beat him in a what I thought was a friendly dumbbell press competition, He refuses to believe I don't take drugs and has started spreading rumours about me, Some of them pretty nasty too like I deal steroids etc... which I don't as I am ardently against drugs of any kind.

This is why I hate people, I want to live in the middle of the woods with no one around XD

So my mother just phoned me from Berlin and it looks like I'm going to be flying over in the next few days, A cousin of mine and his wife were walking home after work, They walked passed a group of around 8-10 arab men who were standing at a bus stop, The men whistled at my cousins wife, She's highly conservative in the way she dresses so nothing was on show, So they walked faster, Then the group ran after them and proceeded to start fighting my cousin, My cousin pushed his wife into a store as he knew what would happen to her otherwise, She closed and locked the door and the owner called the police, The 8 arab men kicked my cousin so much, While screaming their usual religious crap, That he has now lost both eyes, His jaw is shattered, Both cheek bones are dust, All of his ribs are broken, He's got a punctured lung and both of his legs have multiple fractures.

The police took them all into custody but then let them go because apparently they did nothing wrong.

This is why I utterly despise the western world, Scenarios like this are becoming common place and the people in power hand their own people over to the wolves and then protect those wolves when they inevitably violently attack, Every European country needs a shakeup, It can't go on like this.

So sorry to hear your cousin got treated that way, it is utterly disgusting that the police let them go so quickly after this attack which sounds pretty severe and life threatening, hope he gets through and makes a recovery as best as he can.

Appreciated thank you, German police have their hands tied by the politicians, They've been told to not hold any foreigners that commit crimes but to just release them as soon as possible, I have no idea why but many people I personally know are leaving Germany because of this.

Sorry to hear about your cousin hope he makes as good a recovery as he possibly can.

It's not surpising the police let them go, happened to a mate of mine but not to anywhere near the same level, but it ended his career in the army.

It was a bunch of blokes from Turkey that attacked him whilst he was over in Germany and shattered his ankle and bottom part of his leg.

The German police did nothing but someone did do something.

I don't have anything against people who are immigrants in to a country but they should be treated fairly and if they commit a crime they should face appropriate punishments, not just be let off because the prosecution are to scared to offend someone.

The problem is that many people going into Germany from the middle east and north Africa are not refugees but economic migrants who do not leave their failed violent culture behind them but rather bring it with them and act exactly the same way that ended up turning their country into a hell hole, It will only get worse and worse until leadership that doesn't kowtow to political correctness bull gets into power and starts mass deportations of people who are entirely incompatible with western society.

Many of my Jewish friends have had to leave Europe entirely due to the rise in violence from the new migrants and that is very sad :(

While not to the same violent extent, many Californians are moving to Texas(mostly) and some to other more conservative states. They bring their BS and political views and it's turning more of the country blue. It's a sad time. The day Texas turns blue is the day America dies. If you've been to Texas and are familiar you'll understand what I mean.

It's okay to have different beliefs but the modern culture is so objectively toxic it's ruining a whole lot. Very sad..

Isn't all the crime spike in Germany statistically linked to asylum seekers rather than economic migrants? Here in Malta I think we still have the highest percentage of refugee/asylum seekers as part of the population in Europe (Highest rate of refugee intake for many years, despite being a tiny nation with highest population density in Europe by a long shot), but we keep the public/welfare services well funded, ensure they're reintegrated into the community, get jobs & housing, so we still maintain one of lowest crime rates in Europe.

[Obviously, most refugees have PTSD or similar as most will have had family die both before and during the journey when they were forced to leave a warzone, and that can become very dangerous if not treated properly while dropping someone in an unfamiliar environment, sounds to me like German authorities are trying to cover up for some big inadequacies with how they deal with this stuff]

Oh I know what you mean, Where leftists go much like people coming from failed 3rd world countries they bring their failed ideologies with them which in turn, Turns the new place into a failed state/region, Just look at places like Detroit, Perfect example of constant leftist failures.

Most of the people coming in claiming to be refugees are not from Syria, They are maybe 1%, Most are from Pakistan, Mali, Lebanon etc... the only reason they are here is because Merkel basically invited in the whole 3rd world which is causing some serious problems that the authorities cannot handle and the politicians are trying to cover it up by telling indigenous Germans to change their behaviour and adapt to the invading culture instead of the other way around, Europe severely needs a shake up, The tension in the air due to indigenous Germans simply having enough of this rubbish is palpable.

To be fair, Mali, Pakistan and Lebanon are all active conflict zones; Pakistan currently has two ongoing "hot" conflicts besides the 70+ years of skirmishes with India, Lebanon is in the early stages of another civil war (predominantly Christian vs Shi'ite with some class war elements) and Mali is under brutal Islamic terrorist regime control that the French are currently in hot-conflict with.

It seems like authorities there definitely haven't handled things properly though, but I get why Germany would do it, there's significant long term security benefits in knowing millions of people aren't being thrown into the grasp and influence of terrorist militias in war torn areas, and usually if ignored these kind of problems just grow and grow in both their security risk and long term economic damage/losses.

But worth remembering if they're registered as refugees then they don't automatically gain a right to be permanent members of that society, the vast majority want to return home once conflict has finished as we've seen with Syrians returning in the millions recently.
