Finalising Project : Wind Chill

Looking good (Y).. an upgrade for you the future will definately have to be a bigger monitor haha :) But yeh the rig should look lovely in that LEXA.

You could always use the edit button plus the image hosting OC3D provides :)

Sounds like a really good build to start on! Just dont rush putting it together, best to keep cables tidy from start rather than try to hide them inside an operational machine :D

Plus get a widescreen 20" at least asap - and i thought 17" was small :p

UPDATE:

The last of the parts are now here! Scan are an excellent company to buy from, and got my package out to me before 9 on a monday morning, when i had ordered on the friday! talk aout fast. I took the liberty to flash a few piccies in the warmth of my firelit living room, to escape the wintry cold, and here's what i have got for you. [Big Pics, so click on em for smaller versions]

I recieved the package, and immediatley began to chop my way in.

When i opened it up, i was immediatley impressed by the level of padding the products had been given. Well done Scan!

I pulled out the airbags, and boring old paperwork, and here is what i recieved. My package, in all its glory. As you may notice, i missed an airbag in the top left :yumyum:

Now, here are my arty farty pics of my various components, and their innards. First off, i tugged out my kama meter fan controller. Here are a few piccies.

[IMG]http://img32.picoodle.com/img/img32/5/12/17/f_DSCF4730m_62188c7.jpg

And it's packaging innards, minus the foam lid.

Next up, my 520w corsair power supply. This one was a big old box.

http://img32.picoodle.com/img/img32/5/12/17/f_DSCF4736m_3e6f9ff.jpg

Opening it up, it was nicely packaged, with a foam lid covering the supply, which you can see on the left of this next pic.

http://img31.picoodle.com/img/img31/5/12/17/f_DSCF4737m_4e887a0.jpg

Here is a closer look at the supply itself, the manual can be seen in the top left, and the cable pouch at the top of the box.

Next up, the arctic cooling freezer 64 pro. A nice box, suspiciously similar in packaging to my AMD cpu, which is coming up later.

http://img37.picoodle.com/img/img37/5/12/17/f_DSCF4741m_10516d3.jpg

Opening it up, it was nicely diplayed, and i took it out to have a little looksee, however, due to its needing to stay clean, and it being hard to get back in its packaging, i put it back rather hastily, and provided photos with it IN the packaging instead.

A nice little extra was an arctic cooling case sticker in the manual. Its not a hugge thing, but it is nice all the same :D

Here's my motherboard, again, a big box, and a nice looking one too. Good packaging IMO, perfect level of feature advertising.

http://img36.picoodle.com/img/img36/5/12/17/f_DSCF4749m_2ffb444.jpg

Opening it up, i was greeted by a host of cables, including some lovely black drive cables, which will be great, as i am using a side window. I didn't get the board itself out, as i didnt want to have to replace the mass of cabling, and it was encased in a cardboard compartment.

http://img30.picoodle.com/img/img30/5/12/17/f_DSCF4750m_dad1e46.jpg

The final box, was my Black Edition CPU. This was some ace packaging, and it did have a cool window displaying the chip itself, but i missed this during the photoshoot, so unfortunately, you will have to imagine :p I couldn;t open it up however, as it was a one-use box, so i left it inside, for another time.

http://img40.picoodle.com/img/img40/5/12/17/f_DSCF4748m_b380e98.jpg

Apart from all the lovely boxes, i also received 2 super-bubble wrapped parcels, which i have deduced contain my RAM, HDD, and arctic silver 5. I will open them up at a later date, but to round this all off, here they are.

http://img02.picoodle.com/img/img02/5/12/17/f_DSCF4751m_ced7aea.jpg

and the other

Thats all for now people! I am just waiting for Jim to send me my cable management system, and then i am done! the 25th looms ever nearer!

Quick Update here, i took a little pic of all the parts, together in their stack. I am also about to upload a little video of all of them.

UPDATE:

I am now getting my worksurface ready, brooksie, hope you're not too jealous :P I have the luxury of a large trestle table in a large, ventilated, well lit room, with a nearby pipe for grounding, a computer for internet queries, and a bathroom for cleaning :D

Afore long, probably tonight, i will ground the surface, by covering it in tin foil, then wiring it to a grounding pipe. Then i will have a grounded, insulated (its on cardboard feet), clean surface, then i'll ground myself, and i am working in a static-nuetral environment, with no chance of shocks, and i'll be ready for the project to begin on the 25th.

Quick EDIT: i have foiled the table, just need some wire to ground it now

WTF at that foil table xD

TBH i would of seriously reconsidered on the X1950 PRO, but its too late now eh..

Good luck on your build :)

Ha, well, you can come over mine if you want, only a 5 hour trip, then to be turned away by my mum wondering who the hell you are :D

BUILD PHASE:

well, come christmas morning, i hopped outta bed and got to it. Now it is boxing day, and i am well underway. I have sleeved loads of cables,

and have installed 2 antec tricool fans in the case, replacing 2 stock NZXT fans, here's one of em.

I also have a plan to make my cpu PWM fan controllable by my sycthe kama bay, by trimming this socket:

to accept this header:

the case is a dream to work with, and i am very happy so far! I have got a ton of case stickers, like the brilliant promo ones from the black edition CPU:

to apply some time in the near future, and all proceeds at full speed!

New addition, i have fixed the extra fan into my case! Duct tape FTW! here is a piccie:

oops, i rushed ahead, so a lot of those pics wont surface im 'fraid. I'll put a few in tho.

News! I have added an additional 120mil fan to the side of my case. While it does not have a hole to draw air through, it keep the hot air near my CPU moving. And it looks kool too.
