Eventfull day...

I have been at college all this week starting my ICT Technical Support NVQ Level 3 course. I didnt know anyone on the course but have already made a couple of friends which I meet at the bus interchange each morning. I wasnt really nervous on my first day, I dont know why, I suppose it was just because I knew everyone else was in the same boat.

I have my first modular test tomorrow morning and there is alot of work to be done in a year, If I pass I can go onto a 2nd year extension of the course to get a diploma in IT and enough points for Uni.

Good luck with college, you have made the right choice, I got 9 C's but still chose college over 6th form because I am sick of school and being treat like a kid still.

Remember dont be too nervous, everyone is equal on the first day.

sixth form do treat you like kids, there's stil bullying, its not right....

thanks, really fills me with confidence :)

everyone there was really nice too...

all a bunch of emo's, i fitted right in :p

Sounds like ur college is after statistics...uve gone a better way now anyway. I enrol tomorrow...should i say today at my chosen college doing btec level 3 nation diploma in ict (cisco qualification offered later in course) which im lookin forward to immensely...6th form wasnt the way for me!

im sure we are all gonna enjoy it!

I dont know anyone going to mine tho (30 mins train journey and about 30 mins walk without the bus) but hey, chose the college not for the friends (altho ill make plenty ^^)

aye, it should be good

and i should mention brid school has just come out of special mesures, its been under scrutinity by ofstead for a long time, and we've had her madjisty's inspectors in checking everything since the begining of my GCSE's.....so that might have an effect on it, the head, with his head in the clouds might want it to look, on paper, like they've made a massive turn-around, but...they're going about it...umm....imorally ...for lack of a better word.

There`s a number of ways of looking at this whole thing:

a) the teacher`s a deek, only wanting to keep better students to show higher results for the school.

b) the teacher could do nothing and after two years u gamble between getting D/E & U for u`r subjects.

c) the teacher advises u that since u`r borderlining D/E & U for u`r subjects, perharps u`d be better off thinking of something else.

In reply u have a number of responses:

a) carry on as u r and get D/E & U in the college courses u`r about to take.

b) treat it as a wakeup call, get better grades and use that as a middle finger to the previous teacher.

Either way, it seems to me that unless u make changes, like not getting 12/150 for a coursework ?!!? u will get the propsed grades in what u`r about to undertake.

Outside of school, it`s a big world out there, and hardly any1 will give u anything for nothing, apart from the gov. dole office for 6 months. What u achieve is pretty much a reflection of what u put into it, unless:

a) u`r especially good at bluffing.

b) u got a photographic memory - but don`t understand things.

Which ever u`ll be faking things that will work up to a point.

It`s harsh, but unless u take the experience with the teacher in a positive way, make some changes, a number of years after this u`ll be either saying to u`rself:

a) to be fair he was right. (even tho he`s a deek)

b) eff sake failed all my stuff at college, the deek was semi correct, and asking Asdas if they have fulltime jobs for stacking shelves instead of partime.

yeh, maybe i should have done collage from the off, avoided doing subjects i dont want to...

but ah well, whats done is done...

sorry for double posting, but update:

just heard from the free press, its going to be frontpage news, but i wont be there for the photograph, because i'm in collage, on my first day, a bit of a shame, but thats that, when the article comes out, i'll take a pic of it, and post it up here for you all to read :)

In hindsight my original comment may have been harsh...

You should be given the opportunity to have another go - in my college people who got E's and U's got held back a year to repeat and have another go. Your old 6th form could do the same...

No, it wasn't.

Screw them, chanel your frustrations into determination to do well... Good luck mate, knuckle down

The only real way u can "give them the middle finger", is to make sure u do well tbh.

I didn`t realize their timing over all this, they`re pretty lucky this isn`t the US cos I`m pretty darn sure they`d have a class action against them over that.

First day back ? sheesh.

they sent me down, so i want the whole world to know what they did, i guess i wanna take em down with me, but...not in a really bad way, just the head, and his choise timing, and lack of morality, and stuff...

ill stick by a few of my comments that kicking out less academic people helps the class as a whole, but his timing is totally out of order it should have been clear in writing before you even got your AS results what you needed to keep your place, and then upon not achieving these you should have been notified immediately.

if you read in the free press, he said he shouldnt have to ring round people and tell them, but thats EXACTLY what he should have to do...

i get so many letters from my school its unbelievable, its not that hard to do..

find out where it says the requirements to CONTINUE A LEVELS....as far as i can see, he has only mentioned the requirements to get onto the A level course. (5 GCSE's)
