if you read in the free press, he said he shouldnt have to ring round people and tell them, but thats EXACTLY what he should have to do...

He/they don`t even need to call u, they can send out a regular letter to all those they`re previously planning to dump on the 1st day of the new term, asking them to call him or call in to see a career person. Heck send another one out after 2 weeks of not hearing anything.

Email any1 ???

There`s a good handfull of ways to do this outside of taking 6 weeks holiday and deciding to do something on the 1st day of a term.

They should know better than any1, if u`r looking for a new course, looking in september is the latest time to leave it - for the point that alot of courses are full.

Crazy business.

i used to get hundreds too....no ema due to sickness, new head!, some people won some awards, and they thought to inform everyone,allsorts...

it DOESNT say anything about it ANYWHERE....hense my point,..

well he decided not to...and as i've probably previously said, i dont mind the kicking out, but the bad timing is just unforgiveable, immoral, unfair, not right.....and so on...its just not on

i'll try and take the school down with me if i can....but that plan even failed! why oh why, when i'm treated unfairly do i get then treated even worse for it!

i dont understand anymore :(

Believe me, in 2/3 years time, it`d be better for a paper or organization to do a re-up on u`r details if u`ve achieved despite this, than it would in 6 months time when u`ve dropped out and have nothing looking forward.

Best case, achieve what they said u couldn`t, then point some big wagging fingers.

If u`r looking for legal retribution right now, I`m not sure on how the system stands on what u can and can`t do, and more to the point what they should or shouldn`t do. But I do know that dozens of legal institutions will give u a free half hour consultation to see if it is worth it or not.

On a side note, sueing aint always about money, it should be about right and wrong. Money often clouds this.

If, for example, there was a cash settlement in such a presumed case, the ultimate embarassment I suppose would be to donate all the monies to the college u decided to go to. Easily spent on IT stuff as u`d be well aware.

Hard to say if u got a case of cash infront of u, but sometimes life is about principles and not cash.

hmm...i see your point.....

get 200k ...donate 175k to college....rofl

ah well

whats done is done, college for me now for 2 years, then either swansea or cardiff uni, perhaps bristol, plymouth, exetor, somwhere down there, the furtherst i can get from bridlington...

i hate it here.

hehe mght see ya at exeter then bud :p

just for a heads up they offered me BBB for comp science, im guessing you wd like to do something like that

All I can say is omg! I don't know entirely how the UK schooling system works as it is different to Aus in some aspects, but this is a pretty poor illustration of access and equity to say the least.

Speaking from a teachers perspective I can understand why the school has taken the stance that it has; there is a lot of politics (read funding and status) that goes on behind the scenes that you aren't aware of. Secondly, by keeping a high GPA (grade point average) a school effectively weeds (for want of a better word) out students who are unlikely to complete the course. The school can then in turn receive the 'cream of the crop' incoming students, which bolsters their standing in the education stakes. It's a tough deal for those who haven't performed as well as expected.

But you should have options available to you, which is what seems to have happened and congrats to you for getting an 'alternative position'. But here is where you really need to knuckle down and give it 110% of your effort, otherwise it is a waste of your time and theirs. Plus you possibly take a position away from someone else. If you need extra tuition don't be afraid to ask for it.

As far as the school is concerned they really do need a kick up the backside for the way that the whole issue was handled. As Dave said previously you should have been told immediately that you were being removed, not given a false sense of hope and then ridiculed and beguiled. Are you able to contact an Govt Minister and forward a complaint, as I'm sure they would take great interest in hearing from you. Nothing scares educational institutions like a 'please explain' letter from an MP.

Chin up anyway mate and congrats on getting into college :)

i have informed greg knight

my tory mp for east yorkshire, and the one in power, he's looking into it, and he said what the school did was fine, but the way they did it was apauling...

somthing will be done, most-definatly.
