Delivery Agents

Just been reading over some members experiences with online retailers and was wondering if anyone else has any opinions on the delivery agents. Basically I had some watercooling gear arrive from interlink and the box was dented, so I thought okay I'll check the contents just to make sure. Just to comment I didnt sign for this stuff I get it sent to work and the front desk sorts it for me or I would have commented to the driver. But the contents were a bit dented and chipped so I rang Specialtech who had actually checked the product before it left as it was heavy and expensive and they had told me it was fine. So I know it happened on the journey, and then it happened again with the next order delivered by interlink. This time it was all small stuff and okay. The most recent order from Tekheads was delivered by Citylink, early, and in absolute pristine condition. Other delivery agents like Royal Mail have always been somewhere in the middle. And while I remember Interlink have, much previously before I got things delivered to work, left one delivery outside in the garden with no one having signed for it and delivered 2 others to a surrounding house but not told me which one.

Unfortunately it would make me think twice before ordering anything expensive from a retailer who sends stuff with interlink.

Anyone else any experiences.

Actually I've also found interlink to be lacking in any care when shipping stuff. In fact I find them pretty shocking

in my personal opinion, it is useless to review couriers, since every service ranges between regions

most people ive spoken to hate city link, but in Bristol they are excellent, on the other hand, DHL suck around here so i think you should judge by the service in your area alone.

I have no major complaints against any one courier company but sometimes I find that the outer packaging is slighty ripped or dented, it just takes one person who hates their job...

I'm really guilty of getting too excited and just signing for the parcel. Aren't you supposed to signed 'unchecked' to cover yourself? If the parcel is obviously damaged I think you definately have to sign 'damaged' or even refuse to take delivery? What do you guys do?

CL are not bad in my area......maybe cause i called them twice on failed delivery telling them no one turned up for delivery, and i have proof on a 24hr CCTV footage ready to bust their ass......maybe they wrote down my address to be careful eh? lol

anyway, most of the times i signed for it as long as it looks ok.....only in things thats sub 40quid, anything more i signed for Uncheck.....

CL are also fine here and the driver is very friendly, usually rings me when he gets close so I can meet him at my house, i work just round the corner.

city link delivery drivers may be ok, but the staff back at the sorting depot are muppets! I remember watching them when waiting to pick something up. They chuck each package from one end of the van to the other, even seen a couple say fragile notes on them. They didnt care!

City-link are pretty good up here, never had any problems. Parcel force and interlink are also quite good tbh. Businesspost are absolutely terrible.

Good to hear all the comments and I agree that it only takes one person to hate their job. However the same can be said about retailers, it only takes the person answering the phone or picking your order to really screw things up, or be really helpful and make your day, wouldnt want to be negative.

That's true. Now that you mention it I've had more problems with people picking the wrong item or even missing an item out completely than anything else. Emailing or telephoning the company usually gets things sorted out quickly which always encourages me to use the company again.

Hehe. Reminds me of sitting in the departure area at Schiphol airport where you can see everything that goes on outside. Seemed as if the baggage handlers were having a shot put competition with peoples luggage. I cringed when I saw my case being flung onto the plane .

Agreed.

Citylink is the best here, then DHL (know the driver), then Interlink. Bottom of the list has to be Amtrak.

Oh, and Royal Mail do a stellar job too.

i only use rmsd as i liv eon the isle of man and even tho everywhere offers next day only royal maill will get here next day everyone else is a few days and 2 diffrent couriers.. and ive had some batterd packages from citilink

CityLink are surprisingly good - about two months ago my mate ordered two items and there was a mistake meaning only one was actually sent out but they were both given the same tracking number.

The shop told him to wait, but CityLink checked for the package on their system in about 20 seconds, and the wait time was only a couple of minutes, so not at all bad :)
