I am not impressed.

If it really is broken, HDD companies sometimes restore data for free.

Have you Googled the problem at all?

As its a seagate barracuda 7200.12 1Tb, i looked on there website and they do do it but i dont know for what price as they say that its on a no data no charge basis. And im guessing that almost 1tb of data is going to cost way more than i can afford

I've seen that you can put the HDD in the freezer for a couple of hours and sometimes it starts working. Linus from LinusTechTips demonstrated this, but it didn't work for him. It's worth a try and won't cost you nothing.

. That is daylight robbery mate and not worth it. I hope the freezer trick works for ya. It is largely hit and miss, but it does work sometimes.

Right ok i have just bagged it up and put it in the freezer (took the opportunity to get ice cream

). I will leave it in there for a few hours and keep you posted, Fingers crossed.

EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard

Give it a try, if the hard drive isn't completely dead you can grab the majority of your data. Data remains on the drive even after you delete it, just make sure you don't format or write over the drive and go Samsung / Western Digital next time.

Thanks, but the drive doesn't spin its just the needle moving so i don't thin that program will work, also the 4 other HDDs i own are WDs

Well it's not that complicated you just have to be super super careful and document exactly how each platter came out and be certain to put them back in the same orientation.

You will only get a couple of reads out of it when u get it back together to get the data off before it will fail. It's not a permanent solution just a solution to recover your data.

You will probably need a platter removal tool. You can google all the info u need on swapping platters. It certainly can be done.
