Cousin: Consoles Are Better Than PC's !

Was talking to my cousin today and I nearly had a nerd rage, He told me that consoles are better because you don't need to upgrade as often, They are cheaper and they are smaller oh and also they have better graphics.

I nearly did this to him ^_^ -

I have a friend who is like that. Always talking about how the PS4 is terrific and can beat a modern PC. I showed him the Linus vid where the other guy says he couldn't underclock his GTX480 slow enough to be a fair match with a console.

I laugh at console peasants who think consoles are somehow better than PCs. It's really hilarious and not even worth the argument. I hope you link your cousin to this page so he/she can be enlightened.

I got him to come round to mine and showed him a few games in 720P console territory with settings mirroring the consoles i.e low to mid'ish, 1080P and then 4K ultra settings just for good measure, Needless to say his jaw dropped hahaha ^_^

It was a true Kodak moment :D

People seem to have a massive inability to compare incomparable things, n00bs.

Well said !

The PS4 is great for what you get in terms of specs resulting in nice graphics for £350, that one purchase of £350 is to last approx 8 years so it is a bargain.

They can't beat a PC in any shape or form but for the money if you can't afford a high-spec PC its totally worth it.

Same goes for Xbox One although thats slightly less powerful again. What was that about if you disable the camera you get a 20% or something boost on the GPU?

It's funny as my cousin thought the same thing till I showed him games from the Xbox 360 and Xbox One compared, to my pc and he instantly realised he was wrong and asked me to spec a pc up for him.

The problem with the consoles is that, they are only going to last about 5 years if we are lucky because of how poor the hardware is in them, they still cannot get most games running at the 1080p 60fps mark that they all want to hit, with better graphics than the Xbox 360 or PS3 so they will have to release a new console in a few years time with better hardware.

Maybe they should have waited for Nvidia to start with the Maxwell GPU's and then they may have had better graphics in them, than what is being provided by the AMD GPU's.

I think the performance increase was around 20% if you didn't have a Kinect plugged in to the Xbox One but, it's up to the developers to make use of it and tell people to unplug the Kinect.

Apparently both MS and Sony are starting work on the next iterations i.e PS5 and XB3/XBTwo because devs and so many other people have told them "Aint no way these are gonna last anywhere near as long as the last gen consoles."

Yeah I think I'm about to cost his mum a small fortune in hardware lol ^_^

He's coming round tomorrow again to get his frag on with BF4, I have successfully initiated a family member into the PC Gaming Master Race :D

Also I highly doubt both consoles are going to last that long, A lot of devs have already stated they came out of the gates vastly underpowered when compared to the last gen consoles.

I saw that a while back too, thats quite a worry, I don't look at buying a console every few years, if thats the case I won't buy more because I may as well just keep investing in my PC.

How do they get the idea of them not lasting as long though? The hardware is more powerful, the software is better and easier for devs to work with, I thought consoles basically controlled the market to some degree so from that I thought they'd be able to slow games down to continue working for years to come?

BF4 is much more stable on PS4 but as well as not looking as pretty as PC there are some quite serious fps drops on the market map (can't remember the map name but its Dragons Teeth DLC I think), like oh my lord, new console, but fps drops are huge.

Its not as powerful for the time as the last gen was.

The PC made as of last count over 20 billion the last fiscal year alone in hardware and software and is rising very quickly, It's already raced ahead of console revenue.

The reason why they need to bring out more powerful consoles is because the games devs want to bring out require a butt ton more horse power that the current consoles simply cannot deliver at 1080P 60 FPS without compromising on a lot of features i.e frame rate and weird resolutions like 792P.

We need 4K consoles, I want a 4K TV (possibly) early next year (if it seems worth it nearer the time).

input lag tho.

All I need is a Forza for pc again and my console is useless. More and more games are coming out for pcs as well as console so the whole exclusive thing isn't that big anymore. Atleast for me it isn't.

Input lag is over my head lol. Just saw in the other thread about OC'ing a mouse, my brain was frazzled right there.

Consoles are a LOONNNNGGGGGG way off being able to play game in 4K at good frame rates, You could put a game in 4K on the PS4 right now and it would literally do 1 frame per day :D

If you played a PC game on an input lag heavy 4K TV right now your button presses would register around 3 seconds later, It's THAT bad.

Its one of those things where once you see an example of it you start noticing it alot more

point in hand try playing a game on a TV that has a rough response time of 15ms then try a normal monitor with 1 or 2 ms.

I still think this whole argument is like saying meat is better than vegetables. I mean it's indisputable, it costs more, tastes better and dat protein. But at the same time vegetables have their place at the lower end of the market with lower production costs and they don't kill you if you fail to cook them properly.

Is what i'm getting at is somebody out there has got to play with a potato.

Ahh ty for explaing you two. What is the typical response time of a 1080p TV?

Why do 4K TV's have such bad response times?
