Corsair AX860W Fan

Hi all,

Just remembered to get round to asking this, but my PSU has the feature of not needing to use the fan until it gets under a certain load/temperature but it spins right from pressing the power button.

Is this supposed to be set to spin when needed automatically or does it need to be done within the BIOS? I've not seen any sort of option I don't think for this in the BIOS though.

Cheers,
Shaun

You can set it up with the Link feature, otherwise it will just do what it needs to - to remain cool. Your rig will be pulling enough watts that it will be spinning inline with the auto feature.

No problemo, the rig is silent and all so it doesn't really matter but was just concerned it was faulty or something.

I'll check the temps and all soon, I still haven't downloaded any tools or anything for that sort of thing!

There is a rocker switch on the front labelled 'fan control', the 0 position is 'hyrbid' and the 1 position is 'normal'.

In the normal position the fan will spin up to 40% and follow a slightly aggressive temperature curve but it still doesn't make much noise.

In the hybrid position the fan won't spin at all until you load the power supply (stated to be 40%) but I think it must also take temperature into account not just load.

I have never seen mine spin in the hybrid position even running a PSU burn test for some time. When you turn it on the fan twitches but it doesn't spin up like the 'i' versions. The fan operates perfectly in 'normal' mode so I guess it's just that god damn efficient!
