I have CoD4 which I have just installed. When I try to play single player I get the following message.

Please insert the correct DVD-ROM, select OK and restart application.

Anyone got any ideas?

I have put the DVD in the other drive witht he same result. The game does let me play multi player though. I last about 10 secs without being killed and need to practice in SP mode first.

Cheers Guys

I know what you are saying Tox, but don't see why I should have to, if you know what i mean. I have been onto Activision and am awaiting their response, just wondered if anyone else had come across this problem.

The guy on the phone from Activision did say that some of the DVDs could not be recognised iin some players. I have pioneer and Liteon SATA. Should be ok.

Yeah, it should work.. how old is the player? Can't be that old.

Well, for now if you wanna play i recommend just cracking it.

Saves time.

Then hopefully you will be able to have a good few games in the story. :D

Activision should come back and say.. "mmmm we will give you a new disc".

The players are only 2 month old, Will play multi for a while, and still revert to Project Reality as my main game, need to get CSS back on as well as I need a blast.

I cant play COD4 SP because it asks me to insert the correct DVD. But i have it in my drive

* Hold down the left shift key when inserting the game disc if this problem is occuring on launch.

* Make sure you have 32 bit drivers for your CD-ROM drive.

* Set the CD-ROM cache size to zero.

* Change the DMA setting on the CD-ROM drive.

* Make sure the drive letters for the CD-ROM is set correctly.

* Make sure that the location for CD music to play is set correctly.

* Make sure your system can successfully play Audio CD's.

* Turn off Auto Insert Notification.

* If you have the CD burning software Alcohol 120% installed you need to turn off all of the emulation options.

1) Go to File > Options.

2) Click on Emulation in the menu to the left.

3) Uncheck all options in the window to the right.

* If you have CloneCD you need to turn off the Hide CDR media setting. This setting is accessable from the task tray icon for clone CD. Right-click on the icon and uncheck Hide CDR media.

* If you have an Nforce based motherboard go to http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp and get the latest Nforce drivers for your motherboard chipset.

this may help

Cheers Nepas, already tried that as it is available on Activision support , seems I am not the only one with this problem.

Most of the replies seem to point to the same thing emulation software but i don't have any installed. I will persevere with Activision support for now, and just slowly get used to it in multiplayer mode.

Once again it reeks of a company pushing a half finished game out. especially since it is already on patch 1.4. ho hum

You could be waiting a while :yumyum:

So FAr Activision have had me do a clean boot, asked me to disable any emulation software running (I have none) and the latest is to uninstall Nero.

I think the problem is that CoD4 does not recognise my SATA optical drives (liteon and pioneer) although it did install from them.

I am gonna wait until their next response (I said I was considering using the No cd crack) before actually implementing it.

Thanks so far guys and I will keep you informed of the progress

I had the same problem and when I checked my main .exe file it was set to run in windows 2000 mode for no reason. Changed it back and it has worked fine ever since.
