Chilly1 P5B quick mounting guide

Ok I have had a few people ask me how I insulate my mobo's to protect against condensation this is a very rough guide..

I always use the rear mount from the mach2 heater pad and all first off I use dialectic grease on the rear square where the backplate is going to go

DO NOT PUT DIALECTIC GREASE WHERE THE SEAL STRING IS GOING TO GO

I have no pics of my rear mount as I accitdentally erased them from my camera

Use one round of the seal string around the mounting plate if you need to modify the plate ie file in between where the bits on the mobo stick up then do so so you get nice even contact with your mobo and the seal string

Then I go around the outside of the plate with another round of seal string pushing it into any air gaps that may be left

Push your mounting screws through the holes in the plate and tighten them down

I then smeer dialectic in and around the socket on the mobo making sure I have a lot of coverage on all the components arounf where the evap will mount

From this diagram you can get a rough idea as to where I put the grease you can also see the neoprene gasket I have made to go around the socket retention mechanism

Here is another shot of the gasket and grease

To finish off the installation I then add another gasket to the top also smeering dialectic grease around the top

DO NOT PUT DIALECTIC GREAS ON YOUR CPU'S CONTACT AREA THE AREA WHICH MAKES CONTACT WITH THE EVAP HEAD

And this has done fine for both my single stage and my cascade down to -90

Nice one :)

I may have to attempt something like this soon when my new toy arrives ;)

I notice that you have removed the NB/ heatpipe cooler thingy...

Here's a pic of my p5wdh insulation too.Its 10mm neoprene and the holes were "drilled" using offcuts of 6mm and 8mm coppertube.Once the cpu is fitted ,i use a combination of neoprene offcuts and dc4 to fill any air pockets.I would like to suggest filling the bottom of the socket with grease enough to cover all the smd's in the bottom, and doing the same to the cpu smd's,and also a very light smear over the gold contact pads of the cpu.Don't overdo it with grease though or your cpu may fail to post, due to poor contact between pads and pins.

Nice Thicky I was going to do somthing simular but ther was too many holes to drill so I went around the inside

Nice guides guys :D

Not as neat as the others, but did the job just fine. Went a bit OTT with the vaseline, better to be safe than sorry tho....
