Chasing Dreams

I was wondering if you have any good hints that isnt covered in Nils' tutorial?
I am in the middle of a watercooled build in a white 600T aswell, and really thinking about getting some MDPC sleeving too :)
Also, how much sleeving/heatshrinking did you use for the whole case?

This could be usefull to anyone, so here are some numbers:

- 50m small sleeve black
- 30m small sleeve white
- 1x 5m SATA sleeve black
- 1x 5m SATA sleeve white
- 3x heatshrink small black
- 2x heatshrink small white
- 1x heatshrink SATA black
- 1x heatshrink SATA white
I also ordered a molex remover tool, 4pin tool 'save my wallet edition' :p, and a crimping tool. The crimping tool is expensive, but o so worth it. The chance something goes wrong with a cable and you have to re-crimp it is pretty big, so I definitly recommend to get this.

Some tips:

-> About the SATA sleeve and heatshrink: I ran out of sleeve quite rapidly, I would have felt a lot safer if I ordered 1 more of each color :p

-> About measuring the length for the sleeve to go over the cable: don't be afraid to cut it a little longer than you think is necessary. Something can always be cut off, but not glued back on!

-> Start with the fans, they offer good practice ^^

-> Cut enough pieces of 15mm heatshrink before you start on a cable. Having to interupt your sleeving process to cut extra heatshrink is enoying and you save time. (or get the pre-cut ones Nils offers)

-> Be patient. Don't hurry. Take your time...

-> Here and there in this topic I give some information about how I adressed certain 'problems'. The split cables for example. Have a look at those. For the molex cable I used my own method. Kind of an extension to what lutro0 tells you in the link below. Keeping more than 2 molex connectors on one cable cán be done! (as I have showed here, *proudness* :p)

Nils sends you a mail with loads of information. The pics on the site are very usefull too. Apart from those things, I learned a lot from this wonderful guy one youtube, very well known as lutro0: http://www.youtube.com/user/lutro0/videos
Watch the videos at least once befóre you start ;-)

How I sleeve the SATA power cable, I have yet to figure out...

'Nuff said.

Where are these sold please? :p

EDIT: found some at Aria. Wonder how the shipping to Belgium goes... Knowing or customs and extra taxes *-)

EDIT2: Getting them in Belgium seems impossible unless almost paying as much for shipping as for the ram itself ^^ corsair vengeance white is easier to get

Don't you have some price comparing site, that compares prices from different e-tailers in Belgium?

You could try Caseking.de

Thanks alot for the answer.. ;)

I think im good for amount of sleeving..

but I have to add the crimping tool then.. :)

Tweakers.net/pricewatch is the biggest for Belgium and the Netherlands, but that gives me no result :/
On the exceleram site there's some links to German shops, but no white ones to be found... I'll keep an eye out for them though :)

Okay, so... It has been a while :p I'm busy doing exams for my studies at university, BUT a shipment suddenly arrived and I just couldn't control myself any longer, more had to be done to my rig!

But before I start spamming pics: HOW CAN I CHANGE THE TOPIC TITTLE? I came up with a name for the rig and I'd like to put it in the topic tittle so it's a more recognisable. So if anyone knows how to, please let me now here or in PM, thanks!

The shipment:

The 1TB hdd was for my sister, the enermax brick and samsung 2TB hdd is my new external hdd (desperatly needed more storage). The NZXT leds are for the rig, so is the Scythe Himuro and now that I've thrown out my ugly internal dvd drive I needed something else to read or burn the occasional dvd.

This is the Samsung DVD: Simple and cheap, yet stylish, white and it does the job :)
Put it on my desk to test, now it's sitting somewhere out of sight until I need it again.

Scyhte Himuro: the perfect thing to hide the HDD! An idea I got from some builds at million-dollar-pc.com.

dsc04584x.jpg

Those 'blocks' at the sides can easily be taken off to make it look like one whole.
HDD goes in, and I put it on the bottom. Hiding in plain sight ;-)

dsc04604j.jpg

and finaly: 2 metres of white NZXT leds!

dsc04608k.jpg

If you're wondering if those leds made a difference to the lighting in my case: yes they did. Some pics to prove:

Without leds:

With leds (middle of three brightness settings):

The reason why it seems to be looking messy at the bottom is because I still have to sleeve the SATA power cable. It's quite long and just lays curled on top of the himuro for the moment. So it's still not the final look!

dsc04628v.jpg

I just LOVE the NH-D14 with the Enermax cluster fans. (same ones as Tom is going to be using in Orca B-) )

dsc04631j.jpg

Just noticed the yellow sticker on the left side of the motherboard o.O that'll have to go.

dsc04632xa.jpg

Here you can see the Himuro, created some nice lighting effect with the leds next to it ^^

And because the golden rams are, well... 'Golden', I guess :p TADAA!
Got these yesterday, still waiting to be installed :) first -> still one exam to go.

Again: if anyone can tell me how to change the topic tittle, please do ^^ thanks for watching/reading!

I'm really into black and white themed builds and you've done a very good job at that - the sleeving and lighting just look awesome.

Nice work with the sleeving!

I really love the NZXT LED kit! it looks amazing and I love the on/off and dimmer it has. I have one in my 650D right now.

How do those video cards perform?

I came up with a name for the build now. I thought of it before, but now I'm sure.

"Chasing Dreams"

Why? 'Chasing' because of the wide spread knowledge that a build like this is actually never completely finished. There is always something you can do or think of, that can be done different or better. Me, I keep on dreaming about lots of things I could do with this build, but for the moment that's all I can do, dream. The black/white theme and the lighting just adds to the dreamyness of this build. Chasing Dreams ;-)

And as a bonus and because I'm bad at waiting when something this tempting is laying around:

dsc04646a.jpg

Now there's still this cable left: SATA power.

dsc04606se.jpg

Not sure yet on how I'm going to sleeve it and put it in the case.
The build could use an SSD. Though not sure which one yet. Black Samsung 830? Silver Intel 330/520? Black Corsair Force 3? I'm trying to get some information about something atm, then if I can, I'll do something 'special' with it. ;p (hint: L3p L4n)

MESSAGE TO MODERATOR:
Could you maybe please change the name of this topic to the name of the build? Project "Chasing Dreams" that would be ^^
I tried sending G-Dubs a PM twice now, I don't think it's working somehow *-)

A long long time ago, in a land (probably) far far away...

So a long time ago I started this build which I gave the name 'Chasing Dreams'. The sleeving has been done, ideas kept cropping up but the funds unfortunatly didn't :p
It's 2013 now, and I have a holiday-week for the first time in ages. Some things were bought, some things were sold, and one order is still on its way.

Chasing Dreams again!

The plan is to install a 2x120mm radgrill in the front in stead of that 200mm fan. (watercooling-ready ;) )
I'm also going to try to make a cover in acrylic to devide the motherboard-area and the psu-area. I have white and black acrylic on the way, we'll see what fits best...

This is going to be my first 'real' modding-deed, so fingers crossed! :D

My order finally arrived last week and my first full modding deed is a fact! :D

Step 1 is fitting a 240mm radgrill in the front of the 600T. I wasn't really happy with the way the grill looked though (little too restrictive), sooo...

New toy:

dsc05159bl.jpg

Always protect the eyes!

dsc05161h.jpg

First thingy is out:

dsc05167m.jpg

Second thingy too, and everything filed down with on of those thingies that come with the Dremel :p fantastic device!

dsc05181xi.jpg

This is the idea, but then on the inside of the case:

dsc05176tj.jpg

The grill sticks out quite far. The bottom of the drive bay will have to come out either way for a radiator and fans, but I'll have to find something to attach the grill in a somewhat decent fashion...

dsc05179ni.jpg

My ideas for watercooling this case were heavily inspired by the video that Tom did on youtube. Lets see if it can be done :D
I have serious doubts about an XSPC EX360 in the top though. This isn't a 30mm rad but a 35,5mm one. That's júst a little too much me thinks. The heatsink at the top of the MSI MPower motherboard comes right to the edge so... We'll see ^^ I'm attempting to get my hands on some second hand watercooling kit. If anyone spots something interesting -> let me know! :p

Annnd, that came out nicely :p

dsc05207d.jpg

Front view. Time to try out that file-thingy from Dremel again ^^

dsc05210b.jpg

Nice.

dsc05214v.jpg

These rivets will have to come out though. The radgrill has to be able to lay flat against the front (from the inside). It's not a very clear picture, but you 'get the picture' ;p right?
