Cables!

Reconsidering my home network now as the current setup is plain messy and bleh.

As I understand its usually cheaper and higher quality to purchase machine made cables especially cat6.

Now will I actually benefit from solid core cables where my maximum run will be less than 30m at the very max.

So the plan is get various premade cat6 cables from a good location in the UK ( I've always bought eBay?)

When running in your house, it's always easier and cheaper to buy bulk cable. With the pre-made cables you need to drill bigger holes so the connector will fit through. Solid core is what you want. Only really use stranded where the cable is bent and moved a lot. I honestly never touch stranded cable. If you are going to take the time to wire your house do it proper and don't cheap out.

Probably won't be drilling etc and just running along skirting board as its only my room and the hallway which needs it for streaming HD and stuff. Would solid be worth running along the skirting

If that's all your doing either will be fine. If the runs are short stranded should be fine, but if the price is negligible go with solid wire though. I don't like to see wiring so everything I do is in-wall with keystone jacks.
