im upgrading my old system and got a little carried away ordering items, here so far i ordered:

2600k + noctua nh-d14

gigabyte g1 sniper 2

gigabyte gtx 580 super overclocked

thermaltake toughpower 850w grand

thermaltake chaser mk-1

120GB Muskin Chronos SSD

in beginning i was going to take gigabyte 590 but after reading about 590 burning stories and yes quite many of them i decited not to take a chance on it

and decited to go with single gtx580 card, think it's enough to handle bf3

I already bought a samsung P2770FH monitor so im going to be playing games at 1920x1080

on memory im bit confused what would be best to take

as i live in iceland and really want to be able to pickup the memory from a local store here, they only offer mushkin memory and not so much to pick from,

so here is what i have to pick from:

Mushkin DDR3 PC3-14900 1866MHz Dual Channel (2x4096MB) 9-10-9-27 @ 1.5V

Mushkin DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz Dual Channel (2x4096MB) 7-8-7-24 @ 1.65V

Mushkin DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz Dual Channel (2x4096MB) 9-9-9-24 @ 1.35V

Mushkin DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz Dual Channel (2x4096MB) 8-9-8-24 @ 1.6V

Mushkin DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz Dual Channel (2x4096MB) 9-9-9-24 @ 1.5V

im thinking that those 1866mhz chips might be best of those, maybe push them down to 1600mhz to get better timing?

If it's only for gaming get the 2500k and get the MSI Lightning instead and btw that they "only" offer mushkin is a good thing

The 2600K is not really neccessary over the 2500K for gaming! Its an extra £70 which could go on a nice feature, or towards the graphics card, which usually is the bottleneck on systems. Or a decent headset.

The 590 burning issue is a load of bollocks, they were pushing it to its limit, and on an unstable beta BIOS, so what is anyone expecting? Only fanboys keep bringing that up, or so I've seen.

Either way, the 580 is what you should get, fastest single gpu=win, and no heat issues as long as your case has good cooling. Get the Twin Frozr II/OC or the Lightning though (MSi).

Instead of the ThermalTake, a Corsair AX 850 might have been preferable.

For Sandy Bridge RAM, Frequency>Timings, not the other way around, but 1600MHz is fine (I got mine to 1866MHz thru OCing anyway)

^^^ this is the reason why is suggested the 1.6V kit, as when overclocking you will get a little more headroom

(0.05V can make all the difference)

i agree the Mushkin DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz Dual Channel (2x4096MB) 8-9-8-24 @ 1.6V is the better one because the tight timings and overclocking headroom is what makes it a better kit in my opinoin.

well reason i picked toughpower 850w grand 80 plus gold:

http://www.geeks3d.com/20110527/thermaltake-toughpower-grand-850w-psu-review/4/

it handles 2x 580 without braking a sweat and my intention is to grab another 580 gtx later if i will need

as for msi 580 over gigabyte ?

gigabyte gtx 580 soc is the fastest of all 580's out there?

http://www.guru3d.com/article/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-580-so-review/

GIGABYTE GeForce™ GTX 580 SOC is No.1 in 3DMark11 Performance Ranking

so yes i truly belive i cant find a better 580 card out there than this one.

Well the AX850, having the same wattage, would also handle 580s in SLi, but you might be pushing it a little, maybe a 1kW PSU for longevity. Will 850W handle tri-SLi 580s?

Also the MSi 580s are quieter and have better temps. Doesn't have to be about 100 extra 3DMark11 points rofl

im thinking if it would be smarter for me to take a gtx590

catch is i would have to take 2500k instead of 2600k and wait with the noctua for a month.. just use stock stock cooler.

card i would be getting would be a gigabyte gtx590, also with gigabyte sniper 2 woudnt it be pretty much gimped to have a 2500 instead of 2600k in it considering the price on that board?

I'd just wait till your next pay packet and then get a 2600k + 590
