BT fined £42 million over late installations to telecom providers

Don't think so

What about interruptions to their service?

That's not what you asked now was it?
Poor internet speeds is not the same as interruptions... my point stands.
Either way they are still technically fined for missing appointments on fixing these issues. Should read the last article about this. It says everything about what they are trying to do

I would say zero internet speed is most definitely classed as a poor internet speed.

If you want to be anal about it yes, but really they aren't classified as such. And again, read the article. They are being fined for those things. I don't see what you need to complain about here. They are on your side...

None of that fine goes to the end users who have had the actual problems does it !!!

Can't believe you of all people are this naive.

Today Ofcom, the UK's independent regulator and competition authority, has announced plans to set automatic compensation fees for delays in repairing services, missing scheduled appointments or delaying the start of broadband services. These new rules plan on setting compensation fees of £10 per day for delays in repairs, £30 per day for missed appointments and £6 per day for a delayed start of services. These payments will be paid automatically to users

Directly from Marks original article. C'mon man you should know to read the stuff before posting

You do realise I live in England and have been bombarded by the media running this story and am fully aware of the facts.

I am fed up with seeing companies get fined huge amounts for various things the cost of which they will just pass onto the end user. Now where do these fines go, the US gov, the EU or national governments. What does not happen is the end user getting anything and lets face it they are the ones who have had to suffer due to crap service.

And you can apply this to any company & governments in the world in the long run it's always the end user that ends up getting screwed.
