Boot Racer Benchmark

Thought I'd share this cool little benchmark, It times your reboot/general boot time and lets you know the time upon reboot.

It's totally free but as with all benchmarks there are the "Enterprise Editions" that you can pay for but it's not needed for the basic benchmark.

My time so far is just over 9's ;)

Please share :p

No unneeded programs installed i.e Anti-Virus, If you have a brain you don't need one.

The only things I have at startup are the Phoebus + Dolby Extras, Nvidia Control Panel, RealTemp, Rocketdock, Tray Clock Mod, Transparent Menu Mod, Full Glass mod and Custom Startup Sound.

Not including the standard Microsoft services that's pretty much it :)

I've also disabled lots of things in "Services" such as Bluetooth Support *don't use bluetooth and never will*, Print Spooler *Don't have a printer*, Smart Card *Don't use a smart card locking device*, Tablet PC Input *Don't have a touch screen or tablet interface* etc.... Stuff that I will never use.

Sounds like the standard 'disable this if it's a gaming pc' list to me :) nice work

That GUI makes me want to cry..

I gave up disabling things when I discovered I have a terrible ssd. Not faulty, just crap. I also run anti virus as I'm not the only person who uses my computer. I don't trust my 12 year old brother.

Windows 7 is pretty slow compared to 8 as well.

The bootracer GUI ? Yeah it's pretty horrid

I haven't noticed any performance difference in games between 7 + 8.1, Not yet anyway.

This is helpful when choosing what services to disable.

Boot speed is noticibly faster. I must say. I run 8.1 dual booted with 7 on my older lenovo laptop(core 2 duo, 4gb ram,120gb hdd, win 7 pro and 8.1) and it is faster on 8.1.
AMD cpus get better fps in 8 due to how it uses the cores. Even with the hotfixes 7 is still slower. Which is a shame.

Neither of these runs were optimized at all, my rig has far more stuff running on startup but both are relatively fresh clean installations with no startup tasks disabled.

My rig with W7P64, a pair of Neutron GTX240's in raid0 getting 945/925 read/write (MB/s), a stock i7-4820k and 2133MHz Dom Plats.

My ultrabook with W8P64, a Samsung PM830 256GB getting 545/445 read/write (MB/s), a stock i7-3537u and whatever 8GB memory Dell could fit on the tiny little motherboard.

Imagine if I had windows 8 on my rig :o actually don't that would be horrible, but potentially very fast booting.

Oh that background ;). I see you've got your eye on that case for good now. I hope you've entered their create a color compo.

Yeah but its a pointless venture entering it, over 3000 people have entered now with 3 entries each and if you scroll through them they all look the same. I blame the bad app with lack of options.

Here's mine! And that's loading Spotify, iTunes, Chrome and display fusion on log in :)
