Bombproof Builders Desk.....Build

Sorry for the Delay guys, this project is still ongoing, however I have been absolutely slammed with work and some personal life drama, I also wanted to switch over to a video update format and have been hunting for the right HD camcorder (think I have found it in the Sony CX260V) So expect a Video update soon. Until Then heres a teaser for some of the goodies I have been gathering for the build.

Phobya 1080mm rad? Does any build even profit from that? I don't think the temps will differ that much from a 480/560mm rad.

I would say yes there is benefit, since I plan on some major overclocking down the road as well as possibly 3 video cards. Plus it lets me run my fans at lower speeds to decrease noise. Thanks for the question! Anyway guys, I have been working 14 hour days so no build updates but the parts are still rolling in here is another sampler pic or 2.

Jesus, this build log has been amazing. I've been looking through all the past posts etc. with my mouth wide open in awe.
Fantastic job mate, this should be breathtaking once it's all finished.
10/10! If only there was a way to 'rep' people with these new forums...

Thanks! The feedback I get from people means alot to me. Also guys, expect me to try out my video update format sometime next week.

I have 9 x 120mm bitfenix fans on it. Cheap ones. I have them running at 800 RPM. They are quiet at this speed, I can't hear them at all. I have the external radiator in its little metal stand that they sell seperately then I run two tubes to the back of my case which I connect with quick disconnects by Koolance. Great QDC's actually.

I get quite good temperatures. Right now the ambient temperature in my office is 30c (we seem to be going through a heat wave today in london) and my CPU is at 40c and both graphics cards are at 47c - That is IDLE.

At load my GPU's went to 60c (Team Fortress 2 for an hour) and the CPU hit 57c

I'm currently running the GPU's overclocked by 100MHz but I've not increased the voltage. The CPU is running at 4.375GHz at 1.3v - I only have the CPU and the two GPU's in the loop.

Before I had this radiator I used two SR-1's by Hardware Labs. A 280mm and a 140mm and my temperatures at idle were a little higher but my temperatures at load were a lot higher by about 10 degrees. Also I had to run the fans faster when I used those other radiators. So I'm quite pleased with the Phobya. I'd give it top marks in performance and because I can run slower fans it is very quiet. I have nothing bad to say about it really. Amazingly priced, great performance.

I know I know, my 3D design buddies make fun of me for it, but we all have to start somewhere and for laying out builds its really hard to beat the sheer quantity of part designs available on Sketchup. I am moving on to other programs for other work but I think I might keep using sketchup for build planning.

Thanks, I know that in the industry its viewed as a bastard child by many but I really can't think of another program I would recommend over Sketchup for planning out a build, its a bit counter intuitive at first but once you get the hang of it you really can get alot done in a fairly short amount of time.

Your not far off, from this desk I plan to conquer the Inner Sphere, Clanner style! ;)

Edit: Thats a Mech Warrior reference for anyone who did not get it.

Just read through the whole log.

Very impressed, and particularly like the inveryed trap door, although a shame you won't be able to see much of your hardware.

maybe you could have that as a raised section so you would be looking up into the inverted case?

Will the inverted trap door enable you to open it 180 degrees to wok on, i.e. reflect back on itself, or just open up 90 degrees.

keep the updates coming
