No copyrights in my future I think ideas should be for everyone

. To answer your question though, the PC/Media case will be enclosed mostly. We plan on using custom cut aluminum sheets with fan and rad mounts as well as mounts for Disc drives and more. However its a little hard to animate all of those in sketup while I am still trying to work on the insides. Thanks for the compliments and when it comes to this sort of wood working its all about patience and careful measurement. Thats a big part of what this build is about, using really low priced materials to build a exceptional desk.

Gotta say loving the project and especially the Mechwarrior theme, they should defiantly redo those game with something like the Crytech engine would be amazing!

Some of the PC cabinet (please remember the entire cabinet will be enclosed in aluminup with man and rad cutouts and access points ofr the Xbox 360, PS3 and surround sound head unit.) Also I will be using a square grid rubber coated wire mesh, the expanded metal in the imagies is just a place holder as it was already available.

Thanks for the compliments guys! Tindo, I would say it depends on how sourcing parts goes and how busy work and college are going to be for me int he next month or so. I would like to have it completely done in 2-3 months but I dont see it being wrapped, and having the custom glass top sourced (yea thats right I think I am going to have glass laid over the vinyl desktop for durability and cleaning purposes but we shall see) As for as building the PC its just a matter of having all of the parts. Anywho guys, small update. Due to the fact that my air conditioning is out of commission for the next day or 2 and it hit 90 degrees here today, starting a fire in my office to heat up the branding iron seemed like a ill advised idea. However we did get the top for the PC cabinet cut to size, whipped out some tubing to figure out routing and component placement. Good news is I am confident that we will be able to stick with the inverted trapdoor mounted PC concept and I will be finishing the sketchup model including tubing in the next couple of days. Final bit of news the desk build just (Ok mainly the MW branding iron) just got a mention in the No Guts No Galaxy Mechwarrior podcast. You can check it out at www.nogutsnogalaxy.net its a really great podcast and a must for any Mechwarrior/Battletech fan. Anywho expect a bigger update a little later in the week.

Also right now I am still planning on using a Piano/continuous hinge but I am open to other options so if you know of another solution please post it up esp. if its exotic or overkill.

have you considered grabbing a Phobya 1080 RAD instead of the quad 360's and then grabbing a single 360 next to the 1080? It would save you about 300 USD. And do you plan to watercool your xbox/ps3? those boxes get hot and noisy and since your using them (no hate) you might as well

Interesting idea I will have to check that out it would be a bit simpler, as for WCing the PS3 and 360 no I will have plenty of fans blowing on them and I dont want to go through the trouble for such outdated hardware, I might add a PS4 and 720 to the loop when they come out, but we will see. Thanks again for the compliments guys more coming very soon.

Nice desk build dieseldog. Looks very solid constructed. Btw is that plywood you are using on the top?

Thanks! and yes that is 3/4 inch relatively high quality plywood. I am covering it with a custom printed vinyl wrap on top and possibly glass.
