Best Performing Ram Kit for 8700K ?

Price isn't really an issue but I'd rather not pay extra for something that I'll never see any benefit from.

Mainly use my rig for gaming and video editing so anything from a 16GB kit to a 32GB kit, Currently have 2x8GB sticks of 3600MHz.

Reason for purchasing is I'm giving my current sticks to my little brother who just bought a Z370 mobo, CPU, GPU but ran out of money for memory.

If your gonna be buying 16gb per stick Its all about the QVL when buying high capacity memory for motherboards these days, or at least that is my experience.

I got a 2x16gb CL19 4000 Gskill gskill kit for 300e earlier in the year in the sales and it just wont do more than 3400 CL 15 on my Maximus X Hero with 8086k, but with the same memory and same cpu on a Z370i Strix motherboard I can reach 3700 CL16.

I think 16gb sticks are just much more unstable in general, or they require expert knowledge in bios memory timings to get them stable.

So whatever you do, if you know your not gonna need extra memory down the road, stick to 8gb modules which are much more stable and easier to run at high speeds.

16GB sticks are just harder on the memory controller. That's why you aren't getting your full speed. Also BIOS and QVL plays a role too.

Honestly though stick with the 3600mhz speed. You won't really benefit from much more. The biggest jump in performance is coming from 2133 to 3000 for DDR4 since it's not that big of a price difference whereas anything higher generally is.

If you use Adobe Premiere you definitely want 32GB if you are serious about editing as that software eats Memory like a fat kid eats cake.

If you don't use it you'll probably have to research how memory intensive your software is if money ends up being a concern at some point. If you really don't care then get some low profile 16GB sticks at 3600mhz for the cheapest option to get everything you need but nothing you won't use(like rgb)

I am using PP quite a lot these days so definitely 32GB but 4 x 8GB sticks.
