Best MP3 Player for me?

Right guys, I'm finally gonna grab myself an MP3 player as i'm gettign a bit bored of the radio these days. Here's my 'needs' prioritised:

- Must have good quality sound, and not sound totally crap up loud

- Needs to go pretty damn loud. I don't want one with any ear protection features.

- Doesn't need to have a color screen, or play video or any other junk.

- Must be able to transfer MP3's straight to player. I don't want any cruddy Itunes software.

- Around 10gb should be fine. I'm not going to rip every single disk I own to it just for the sake of it.

What about size/weight?

Batt life?

Budget?

As far as sound quality goes - I stuck a pair of Shure e2c's into my ipod and god-daim! Sounded amazing. Sometimes, no, almost always the supplied earphones are craptastic.

But get back to me on the above q's mate as I am in the market to buy and have been reading up a bit recently!

Size/weight: not fussed tbh. something that would go in an jacket inner-pocket

Batt life: as long as possible?

Budget: No object when sound quality comes into it :p - Something thats just "worth the money" really.

SanDisk Sansa e200 in 8gb flavour is about £159 - microSD card expansion (1gb £12) does well in reviews...

Review 1 Review 2 Review 3 Review 4

However, like all ipod alternatives it never seems quite as good. IMO 8gb nano rev2, £150, small, light, excellent batt life, bang in some aftermarket earphoens = winner...

Ye lots of ppl rate the nano's, but I just can't stomach the Itunes. I'd rather take a bullet to the head tbh. I just want somethign where i can put MP3's on and take em off without any over-elaborate software.

How about Sony's MP3 player? Anyone tried that?

Friend of mine used to have a 512mb Sony. It was a quality piece of kit, but she wasn't cearful enough with it. Also the buttons were layed out abit funny.

That's exactly what I do with my Nano - only carry around what I actually WANT to listen to.

Of course AAC is pretty small on an iPod too :)

I would say the Super Talent cause its nice but 1gig seems kinda small for you. Even though it does me fine you did mention you wanted around 10gig. Just take a look at it though.

I dont really have a use for an MP3 player so i didnt put much on it. Then again, i only have about 2gig worth of music on my computer and thats even with Media Player riping set to Audio Lossless. (bout 1meg bit rate)

OOOH i like the look of that. Review also says that its loud :D

4gb would _probably_ do me as i'll only be carrying around my faves.

Selective track listing FTW. I had the mini way back and 4gb was ample - you simply cut the mediocre tracks off albums and voila skip free listening!

I'm torn between the nano/clix/sansa myself - 8gb/4gb/8gb - size/batt/sound are my biggest priority as they are all £150

Sounds like you need an 8gb Ipod Nano!
Yea, I'm actually a big fan of iPods. Especially the nano range. Jimbo hates itunes though :( which I personally like, although it can be a pain.

I like iTunes too

If you want to convert frm AAC to MP3 and back again I believe Foobar does it

iTunes is great and Nano's are awesome imo
