Best CPU Block?

I've decided if I'm gonna go quad core it's time to rip out what's left of the old Thermaltake loop and replace it with some better performing bits.

Is the D-Tek Fuzion still the best CPU block around or have things shifted a bit?

I've got a nice little EK8800GTX waiting to go in too so my final question is; is it worth replacing the standard Thermaltake pump (linky) or will this pump be able to handle a better CPU block and the addition of a GPU block?

Id re-do teh lot if i were you.

Fuzion/EK Supreme, at least a 240 rad and a DDC with a decent top.

I'm quite happy with the rad TBH, got a nice big 360 in there at the minute and it seems to be performing well. I've also invested in some FluidXP to act as the coolant.

If I replaced the lot I'm not sure my budget would stretch to the hardware I've got my eyes on and I'm pretty sure I'd get better performance from directing the majority of my money towards newer hardware rather than a slight upgrade in cooling performance. However the CPU block is definitely necessary ;)

Ah, i thought you woulda had one of them silly TT single bay jobs.

You could try the pump but tbh it'd be better to upgrade.

Nah even when I knew nothing about watercooling I guessed it woud be better to go with the Kandalf's big door radiator and wider tubes rather than the crappy 'bigwater' systems they have in their other cases. :)

I'm also quite convinced that the slight whine coming from my case is caused by the pump, are all pumps just as annoying?

Is there any worthwhile difference between these two:

12V Laing DDC-1T Ultra w/XSPC Delta Pump Top

12V Laing DDC-1T Pro w/XSPC Delta Pump Top

If I'm gonna be paying this much for a pump I want to make sure I egt the right one :)

Also; my old pump had the res attached to it, I do have a Thermaltake drive bay res lying around somewhere but it's a bit cheap. Would it be worth buying a new one or is it easy enough to install a T-Line? (I've heard this is the best method).

Either of those pumps will do you proud tbh mate.

T-Lines are great if you want to save a bit of cash on a Res, but they do take a lot longer to get all the bubbles out of your system.

XSPC Bay rez, fantastic bit of kit.

That's not so bad :)

Sorry to keep with the questions but my old kit used these 3/8" Compression fittings (linky). I found them pretty easy to use and so far haven't had a problem with them but I see most people use normal barbs and some Jubilee clips. Is there any problem that comes with using the compression fittings?

NO!

They are FAR easier to use and leak ALOT less. Stick with them

OK just finalising this now so I can set the order.

The D-Tek Fuzion seems to be out of stock on both WcUK and APCUK and the EK Supreme is the same cost on both sites (unless there's a secret cheaper site I'm missing) so the choice comes down to either Acetal or Plexi and Watercooling UK or Aqua-PCs.

Is there a vast difference between the two tops and do both companies offer free delivery?

Edit: I think I could make it total over £100 and then apply the WcUK 10% off offer :)

Performance-wise there's no difference between the two. Plexi is slightly more prone to cracking IIRC, but at the end of the day its mostly down to appearance.

Both companies do P+P, but check their sub-forums and the Freebies section for rules and regs.

I waited an extra day and they got it back in stock - just waiting for the fittings to arrive and I can start tinkering :D
