Best all in one solution?

Hello. What's the best all in one solution to guard me against viruses, malware and all that nasty crap?

Cheers,
Chris.

I have always gone with Avast anti-virus £9.99 for 3 years subscription and scan with Malwarebytes Free version periodically. For a all in one system you'll be looking at big money with a company like C.O.M.O.D.O with their total internet security. But the choice is yours.

Personally I just use avast free.

All in ones generally come with a load of extra bloatware too.

They all have their positives though, Norton is pretty good for technophobes

Kaspersky is generally better all round but i've seen it break badly and load slowly

Mcafee is pure trash, lets more in than a young farmer's pair of legs

Avast would be a good place to start, but myself, free Avast and Malwarebytes pro would be more beneficial

ive used microsoft security essentials for a long time now and personally i wouldnt use anything else.
its free, it updates through windows update. it hardly uses any resources too

Bitdefender Total Security 2013 is the best out there for protection. That along with Malwarebytes is a pretty secure way of going about things.

Also you can always update BD to a 2014/15/16 or whatever year with the same license and no extra charge. Personally i have found unintrusive and not very resource demanding. With an SSD(2 for the whole system) my scans are literally under 8 mins.

Windows security essentials and windows defender, avoid norton/symantec like the plague.

I had malwarebytes installed but it didn't seem to do a good job.
I will try kaspersky and Avast. I'll look at Microsoft essentials too.

Really i want something that will tell me if i'm about to install something that has crap along with it. I installed a couple of apps and ended up with a bunch of shit like the delta tool bar. I manually removed it, but it was still there. I then downloaded a tool that claimed to removed it, but now my system is broken so i'm doing a fresh install.

Note: I carefully check or uncheck the boxes in the installers to avoid having this crap installed, but it still found it's way into my system.

MWB isnt an antivirus silly. Its to get rid of shit once its on there :p

In the past I've mainly just used Norton. Quite glad I've seen this as I have a subscription to Norton and it took out £60 at the beginning of the year on auto-renewal...I don't even have a Windows PC atm! Waste of money. Just making note now to login to Norton at some point. :)

Norton is for n0000bs and is utter gash bloatware.

I think the point is its renowed for slowing machines down

I use ESET and that can be doing an in depth scan and Im not even aware of it.

The fact PC World give you Norton says it all :p

Tom has a point, don't use Norton to auto-scan at a time you'll be at your PC. Everything comes to a stand still.

Norton is completely shit lol. Really is for numpties, costs too much, invades everything, uses up loads of resources and is nigh-on impossible to cleanly remove. God awful piece of software.

Edit:

Why would you even recommend it if you KNOW it does this?

It aint that bad!

Personally, now I wouldn't use jack sheet, I've done it before. I only use like ten websites anyway, I don't Google round so I won't pick up nothing from them and I just wouldn't install anything I didn't know of anyway.
