Hey guys, this might sound like a bit of a stupid question but give it a sec and it will make more sense. So basically i've got a few socket A (462) CPU's dotted around my place and i want to bench them under cold. Now basically i want to be using dry ice for my first time benching cold and i've decided to bench my socket A cpu's since they are cheap and disposable and i have a couple of NF7's i can risk braking
Basically what i want to ask is, where could i get hold of a dry ice pot small enough to fit onto the socket, or would i have to have one made for me. The holes are practically touching the CPU socket so a normal size pot wouldn't fit, or would i have to get a regular one then clamp it down????? Cheers for you help and time guys.
i think your best bet is to make a mount which you can use to clamp a normal pot down with dude, or machine the bottom of a pot so its smaller but then is useless on other sockets :s
wow
sigs broke, i wonder how far back it was i only had 9 points xD
If so get some 50-60mm copper pipe, only need 100-200mm or so leangh and a end cap solderd to the bottom. then use some thermal glue to stick it to the cpu, and just go carefull lol.
Lol cerbrus i like it, I'm gunna try that for the shits and giggles anyway even if its no good
My first experience with dry ice is going to be an interesting one I think
I could get the parts from the tech department in school. This might sound stupid but could I get the pipe and then a small bar or copper billet then solder it to the tube, that way i have a bigger weight at the bottom of the pot and i have the space to make a mount to clamp it down? Getting exited about making the most useless LN2 pot of all time now. At least it will be dirt cheap. I could get the acetone for free and the dry ice for next to nothing too. This is going to be one fun week. I should be revising for my exams though
Just uploaded a whole bunch of benchmark results i've had saved on my usb for a while, and now we have got over 10,000 boints. Good job guys, that means 46th place has been taken back, top 45 here we come
Just a quick random one, anyone have any modded NF7 bios's saved on there computer??? If not does anyone know where to download them, kinda hitting a 220FSB limit and i need a modded bios to help me.

Cheers rasmus, was exactly what i was looking for. Might try a few out to see which works best. If i remember correctly it was the d10 BIOS tuat was best for the NF7's.
Do you guys think i should get a X48 Rampage Forumla for £28 or just save up for a Rampage Extreme???? Was thinking about using the Rampage Formula on a bunch of old Pentium 4's i have, and since they can run at 1:2 or a 1:1 memory multiplier, i should get the highest amount of stability when pushing the FSB right????
My new toys, 17 extra processors to be benched before the end of the month. Not bad for £25. Hopefully they will give us enough TPP to push for the number 45 spot in the team league, can't let the auzzies beat us
Im coming to the end of my time at uni. Start a job there on the 11 June so will have unlimited access to dice I think. Have a few chips I have been meaning to play with for a while now, so Ill become active once more in 2-3 weeks time.
