Battlefield 2 - PB Problem

Hey All,

Been playing Battlefield 2 since the release day and had no problems at all.

The problems all started when I installed Vista and I got this error when joining any punkbuster enabled server;

get.php

At first I thought it must be a problem with Vista so this was an excuse to move back over to XP.

So this afternoon I try and run it on XP and get exactly the same problem.

Now my CD key is real and I have never used any form of hacks on the game so I am totally confused to why I have been banned.

I have sent a ticket to punk buster and I am just waiting for a reply but people say the chance of getting the ban lifted is slim.

Any ideas fellow OC3D'ers...

Thanks, Sam

hmm :(

global ban = no more online play (on pb servers)

All you can do is contact punkbuster.

I have been in touch with a bloke called bjorn in punkbuster before about some stuff (reported a dodgy program). Think he's one of the managers.

Can't really say anything else as if they have global banned your GUID, it's up to them now. Altho in the past their have been bugs in pb where it picked up stuff that isn't a cheat, think one time there was a ISP's software in AUS and loads of people got mass banned and later unbanned.

Do you know of any programs you have in the background that might use hooks of any sort?

Only thing I can think of is the no cd mini image that I have used since day one but thousands of people use them

I dont no. My friend had the exact same problem, he just got banned all of a sudden for no reason. He plays wow now :(

There is a list of Punkbuster 'kick codes' here.

I've read that permanent bans are tied either to your CD key or hardware. Not sure if it affects your account though. I wouldn't give more money to EA just to find out.

Friend had something similar the other week, we are all drinking at the moment so i will not try and fully resolve the problem at the moment but will try and add a bit from memory.

His error code was 82150 (or something) he never cheats , all original and account worked on other pcs in the house (worth a try) he had to disable a messenger program running in the background which sorted it out.

The advice from PB was pretty poor as I remember but EA were great.

I will get all the details tomorrow when we are both sober.

Reply from Punkbuster

The GUID you supplied was logged using a cheat that tried to prevent

detection by PB. The method used is considered by us to interfere with

the way PB is designed to work, therefore violating our EULA.

If you were not cheating, then someone was either using your computer

or your CD key and was caught.

Either way, your GUID was used to try to hack on PB servers and it is

now permanently banned. You may still play on non-PB servers as our

bans only apply to servers with PunkBuster enabled.

Hmmm...

I wonder what could have been blocking it

That reply proper sucks, what was the method? why should you pay for a game only to be told that you cannot play it, and they wonder why people dont pay for software, personally i would be fuming (almost am now) and am now thinking about not buying BF2 and spec forces soon.

I know i should have bought it years ago, but in all honesty never had time to play and only want to but it cos my mate swears by it.

I bet it's vista's security or something.

Do you have any antivirus/antirootkit protection? (some antirootkit stuff will block punkbuster from accessing memory and other apps/processes, how they pick that up tho I'm not sure??)

I am back on XP now mate but yes your right it could have been something along the lines of Vista as thats when the problems started.

I want a game of battlefield 2

Ye like someone said you shouldn't have to buy another copy thats completely stupid, get back in contact with punkbuster and tell them straight, they cant do that, either get them to get you a new copy, and set up a new account...there is another way out of it... stop hacking! lol j/k

Bad luck mate, but it seems Vista is not a supported operating system as yet. Also, you aren't alone in your dilemma. Do you know if they've banned the CD Key and associated it with your a/c?

Damnit!!!!!

I found this thread on a search in google!

We CAN NOT let punkbuster do this to us, we paid for our game! And we are innocent

Im having the exact same problem, i never god damn cheated in my life.

I already submitted a support ticket to punkbuster, if it doesnt work i swear to god im starting an internet revolution!!

I have bought this game in 25-06-2005 and i have the

receipt here!! I have never cheated!!

Im using Windows Vista, could that be the problem?

My GUID is f02ed344

This is what i said to them:

Ok, i havent played BF2 since september and today when i was going to start playing it again i keep getting kicked by punkbuster.

It says ive been banned from the server by punkbuster using the GUID (f02ed344)

Is this a bug? Its not a single server ban because ive tried joining some different servers and it happens in all of them.

I cant stand injustice i hope this gets solved asap

Seems like Windows Vista is the problem, never had any problems until going over to vista.

Let me know what response you get.

Thats fing discusting.

If this is anything like CSS, cheaters will just make up different accounts everytime they get banned in a second. Inocent players put up with this

while pirates and hackers spoil the games of those who are still allowd to play and never deal with any of this.

WTH TBH.
